I don't know if I did good on this one or not, but I've been itching for a 30/30 for many years now and recently picked up a long barrel (26" I believe) Winchester 94 "Canadian Centennial" rifle. The SN of 749XX doesn't correspond with any list of Winchesters I've seen, but the internet reports seem to indicate the whole batch dates from 1967. I normally favor Marlin, but this one looks to be an excellent rifle, and doesn't have the cheap feel of a more recent post-corporate-breakup "Winchester" 94's. There's also no additional lawyer safety. Anyone have a guess as to the year of manufacture? On-line value estimates seem to vary a lot, to the point of being worthless.
I'm debating whether or not to keep it or sell it off and look around for a carbine. It doesn't appear to have been fired--ever. The bore is covered with a layer of fine household dust. There's no rust but the action's lubricating oil seems quite old and somewhat past its prime. It may be the original oil.
