the right holster set-up for this woman... suggestions?

Well, it looks like I need to start carrying my .45 regularly with snake loads, as my 18 month old loves to play outside and the neighbors report an abundance of copperheads in their yards.
Not a problem, carrying it. Finding the best means to carry isn't so easy.
Here's why.

Suggestions, anyone? I was thinking maybe a belt that went below the belly, but my husband sagely noted that just *might* fall off. the weight of a good belt and a gun wedged on top of my belly- I can't imagine would feel good.
My standard maternity garb is a big skirt that can be worn above or below the belly and a t-shirt over it, if that helps any.
The photo is from my last pregnancy, because I'm not that big yet, but getting there, and will still need to wear the gun when I am.
TIA!

You might try the "Safepacker" from Wilderness Products. It can be worn bandoleer style with a diagonal strap or hand carried. Access is reasonably fast and concealment is good. Or, how about a sholder Holster of some sort?
By the way, I hope that automatic you have in the picture is not the .45 in question. Shot shells may not function an auto reliably. Best to function test a few boxes first.
All the best.

How about a sholder holster?

My wife has a fanny pack she shortened the strap on, and slings it over one shoulder, and under the other, like a purse/shoulder holster, and no one the wiser...
She used a shoulder holster when she was pregnant 'out to here' like that.
Good luck, and I wish you and your child the best of everything!

I know this doesn't help with the holster/carrying question, but I can address the snake issue. Forget the "snake loads." If you see a snake near your child, move the child. The 18 month old obvioulsly isn't going to be playing outside unsupervised. The snake can be easily delt with using a hoe, shovel, or just about any stick longer than about 3'. If there's an "abundance" of copperheads it's because there is plenty of copperhead food and you're not going to make them go away by shooting a few. You're not going to make them go away by shooting a lot of them either. In my dealings with countless copperheads and other poisonous snakes of South, Central and East Texas I've never come across a copperhead that was outwardly aggressive. Their defense is to hide and go away once you (the threat) have left. I quit killing snakes of any kind a long time ago. For every snake you see, there were probably 10 that saw you. Killing the 9% I saw just never really made a difference.
If you're going to carry, carry something you can use for defense against the real threat. The one that will approach on two legs.
Oh yeah, congratulations on the new baby!

Yes, for snake shot a revolver is best. With any handgun using shot charges you are going to have to be real close. Close enough that it shouldn't be hard to do the job with one shot with your regular carry ammo. That's why I suggested the shovel or hoe above. You really don't have to be any closer to use a shovel.
