furniture for 1895 Marlin?

The stainless .45-70 is starting to look kinda interesting.. I'm wondering though -- is it possible to get them with different stocks? I see synthetic and laminate, but are they only available aftermarket? If the latter, where's a good place to look for 'em?

Also.. the old 336 I had was awful chunky. Would it be possible to slim down the forearm and buttstock to "winchester-ish" thickness, or does the thicker mag tube preclude that?

Finally um.. who all makes the plugs that replace the crossbolt safety? I never liked those things on leverguns... :)

Wild West sometimes has takeoffs on That Auction Site. Numrich often has wood. I believe that the Ramline synthetics will fit if you open up the channel for the mag tube and barrel.

I did a PG conversion on my 1895 and slimmed the forearm by passing it through the tablesaw to slim down both sides and the bottom. There's plenty of wood left barring something like dropping the rifle onto granite while mounted, which isn't something that's going to happen to me any time soon.
