Okay guys, I have a 5.5" SS bull bbl Ruger MKII and I think it would be neat to mount a red-dot pistol scope on it. I have never mounted a pistol scope or a red-dot on a pistol so I need some advice.

My gun is not drilled and tapped for scope mounts so I something that will fit. I would rather not have to remove my rear sight either. It would be nice if I could find something that would allow me to use the iron sights as well as the red-dot if they make such a thing. It doesn't have to be a red-dot scope, it may just be a 2X pistol scope but you get the idea. I am looking for mount suggestion at the moment not scope and red-dot suggestions but if you have some idea what what works well, I would be glad to hear that as well. I am also a cheap skate so I want to go as inexpensivly as I can and still get decent quality stuff. I don't need Leopold scopes, but I want it to hold zero and not be a waste of money. Looking for the best bang for the buck basically.

I used a no gunsmith mount from www.jackweigand.com and stuck on a $25 BSA red dot.

Makes for fun combo at the range for not much money.

Good Luck...

Joe
