I recently purchased a model 681 357 caliber Smith an Wesson. The gun looks as if it was never shoot. It even has that new smell every thing includeing the bill of sale to the first owner came with the gun. I paid $425.00 for this gun but was given $150.00 off for a trade in EAA 357 snub nose. I can't seem to find any information on this gun and did I pay to much ???

What kind of information are you looking for? I own a 681 4" that is easily my favorite revolver to shoot (and my wife's too!) - the weight of the gun really tames recoil and they just look so nice!

In any case, let us know what questions you have and we can surely provide answers!

The 681 is the fixed sight version of
the 686,which is a L frame.I think
you got a fair price and the 150
dollars you got for the EAA was very
generous.

Did you pay too much? Well, that kind of depends. Strictly speaking, I think it's a little high for an L-frame. However, taking into account that I don't see many of these and the gun is in LN condition, you probably made out ok to pretty damn good. Wouldn't mind having one myself. Been discontinued for quite some time. I'll look it up in Supica and Nahas tonight and see if I can give you some more information (BTW, that book is well worth the cost - Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson).
