Greetings,

have reacently started looking at getting a Centerfire bolt gun in the near future (actually hope to get two by end of year). and have due to past and reacent experience decided to most likely go with a Savage...

what i am looking for is a better idea of what i SHOULD be paying for the gun(s) in question. (Note the letters in the brackets are interchangeable under Savage's notation system F=synthetic stock and G=wood stock) specifically the models 11(G/F) NS (the sporter version with no sights) , 10FP (target/varmint gun, used to be called the "tactical")

and the

10GXP3, and 11FXP3 "package guns"

i really have no Idea what these guns are going for in "the real world" and would appreciate any help those of you who know can give me. b/c i don't want to get skinned only to find out i could have gotten what i wanted for less1 (i'm on a budget)

thank you.

Not going to be much help here ... no idea of current pricing. But - -just had to chip in to say that a Savage 99C I won in a raffle a year or so ago ...... is a dream ..... this is the lever action ... and in my case in .243 .... man, I love that rifle.

Just a word to express my regard for Savage rifles . that's all!!:p

not a problem, too bad the 99 wound up being dropped! i DO intend to get one someday (if i had the money, there is a 75th Aniv. 99 down at my local shop, that i think is in .308, that i would get)

I just got a 24" heavy barrled FP-10 in 308 with the new acutrigger for $435 (as part of a package deal with him for that, a scope, mounts and a bipod)

the Accu trigger added $40 to it (it would have been under $400)

and I think it being the heavy barreled one made it a bit more also...

I bought a 111 in 25.06 package deal about two years ago, gave $360 + tax.
Great rifle, If I decide I need another caliber I get another Savage.

They run $350-ish and they are well worth it.
Savages have been THE deer rifle in my family for three generations, and they have and do serve admirably.
That is alot of praise, especially considering that on any given day, any make member of my family could singlehandedly bring down a circus tent.

Prices really vary from location to location but I paid $390 for my 10FP in 7mm-08 and $410 for my 10FP in 223. $340 for my 12FV in 22-250 and $360 for my 112BVSS in 308. None of these had the accutrigger and all were new in box from a gunshop.

I've seen the combo package with the synthetic stock for $340 at Walmart but I don't think I've ever seen quite that good of a price in a gun shop.

I've had very positive experience with several Savage rifles. The standard triggers can be rough but then can be made to be acceptable to most in just about 2 minutes. As soon as the Hunter series rifles are available with the AccuTrigger, I plan on getting one in 300 WSM and maybe one in 270 WSM just to play with. I'd also buy one in 260 if they had one available and if I thought I'd ever put more than 5 rounds through it, I might get one of the 338 Win Mags asl well. Great guns for the price, esp if the new trigger is available.

i agree savages are worth every penny check out the new ones with the adjustable triggers. I personally would avoid the package scope, I have become addicted to good quality optics.

I'm finding myself in a similiar boat.

I'm looking or a savage in .308.

I called a couple gunshops around here and they tell me they have a model 10 for $410 w/ scope I assume this to be the package deal. When I tried to get a clear picture on the numbering and lettering I thought we were speaking 2 different languages. But I guess they have a .308 model 10 w/ scope for $410 no iron sights though not sure what to think of that?

Another shop quoted me $409 w/ no scope or sights I still don't know if these are different models or what?:banghead:

Hope this helps some

the $410 w/ scope is the package deal with the sporter tapered barrel.
the $409 is probably the 10FP "Tactical" which has a bull barrel.

here is te link to adjust the older trigger on the savages. i got mine down to 1.5# and working safely Savage trigger job (http://www.varminthunters.com/tech/savage110trigger.html)

Thank you for the links. I just bought a Savage 12FVXP .223 last night and want to do a little work on the trigger.

By the way I paid 409.00 at Gander Mountain for this gun. They had just marked the price down from $499. It has a heavy bbl and came with an acceptable Simmons scope as one of the packages Savages offers.

I just ordered a model 11GNS in .270wsm, the price is 340.00 plus tax. However, this is from a dealer I know who charges me 20.00 over his cost. A good guy to know.
