Now I remember why I don't go into Cole's with money in my pocket. Stopped in to check on the status of the 10 or 11 projects he is working on for me. Three hours later as I'm going through the rack behind the counter I see an interesting looking rifle. Quick to the finish, I now have a very early Sako (five digit serial) in .222Rem. When I asked him about rechambering it to .223 he threatened to not sell it to me. Oh, it has a Weaver K-4 on it. Needs a little cosmetic repair, but $400 out the door.

My uncle had one of those. Blond stock...I killed my first deer with it. A very patient old doe, who stood there at some 30 yards and waited until I put one through the white spot.
The .222 is a tack-driving little doofer; held a number of benchrest records for many years...
