Real oddball question: Has anyone tried 'Lil Gun in .357 SIG?

I load 'Lil Gun in .357 Mag, love it, good and bulky and low pressure, high velocity, best of all worlds. Now... How about for .357 SIG? Pressure and volume should be just right, but it's quite slow by handgun standards, and I'm unsure as to slide velocity and function. I'd be loading principally 147gr. Anyone? I've heard of this being done with success, but have never heard directly from anyone having success with it.

I usually load AA #9 in my 357 Sig loads, but I'm looking for data for Lil' Gun for the .357 Magnum, using 180 grain cast bullets, if you run across any. All I've been able to find is data for 180 grain jacketed bullets. I run this bullet through my Marlin Carbine and it shoots very well with a gas checked bullet. I just think Lil' Gun is capable of better velocities than Win. 296 and Hodgdon H110.

Hi Fred, 'Lil gun gave me 2200fps with a 158gr Gold Dot out of my marlin's 18.5" barrel, that was at 20.0gr with small rifle primers, pressure was still reasonable. This is 2.0grs above the max pistol load listed by Hodgdon's.

If I were loading 180's in a carbine, I'd start around 15.5grs and work up, I've heard of amazing performance to be had, on the order of 1900fps.

Cheers :)

Ardent,

I've found good data for 180 grain jacketed bullets, but I haven't found anything for cast bullets in that weight range. I guess if I get some time this summer, I'll take the chronograph to the range and try to work up some loads.

Ardent,

He meant I pulled you away from the original question and diverted it to a discussion on Lil' Gun in .357 Magnum, instead of 357 Sig.
