I just found out that Bullseye Range off of Cambells Run is closed.

Anyone know what happened? Did they relocate?

I heard the ventillation system sucked and they closed down. Judging by the $575+ price tag on a glock 26 the ONE time i went in to look around, i have other suspicions. I heard that Anthony arms bought out their inventory, so its probably not coming back.

Their prices were pushing the extreme. Nice range though...
I have never been to Anthony Arms. I will have to check them out next weekend.

My fiancee wanted to shoot a few different Kahrs and a G26 before she decided on a new CCW.

Last I heard on Bullseye was the venting system was bad and caused massive amounts of lead contamination. I was told this at Anthony Arms when they were putting out some inventory that was said to have come from Bullseye, there were some good deals there. The range at Anthony Arms isn't too bad, I just don't like having to buy their ammuntion and such.

Im going home on leave soon and was planning to shoot there. Oh well. Id rather go to the Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club anyway, even if it is a bit of a drive. Does anyone know if its still near impossible to get there due to construction?

Its actually, in my opinion, EASIER to get there with the construction going on. Less turns, in my opinon. Go straight on toward the next exit, make 2 rights to double back on the parallel road (to the mousetrap) and finish the regular way.

They have a website with far better directions than that.

All I heard about Bullseye is they went Bankrupt. One they were pretty pricey to shoot there even if you were a member. I stopped going there after being told that I wasn't allowed to bring my LAR Grizzly .45 Win Mag back. It seems according to them it annoyed the other shooters. I was there on the range by myself shooting the gun when 3 of the employees came down and were asking what caliber it was. I told them as they were inspecting the brass behind me. They said that it was shaking the whole building each time I fired the gun and you could feel the muzzle blast through the floor. They said after the first round or two they were all looking at the monitor up stairs because they though I was shooting a 3006. Needless to say I looked at them like they were retarded. When I checked out after shooting they told me not to bring that gun back. Gee guys they advertised that the range could handle up to a .50BMG. They kept telling people also they would be open from 7:AM to 11 PM and it never happened. I joined it because I wanted a place to shoot before work. Open at 7:00 am was what got me to join in the first place. It was a nice place but Pittsburgh shooters are a notoriously cheap bunch.

Anthony Arms is okay. I'm not all that experienced with purchasing guns, but their prices on used stuff seemed reasonable. The new stuff looks to be a bit higher than other places I've seen.

Their range is pricey, but it's convenient. Good rental selection.

To keep this on-topic, uhhh...my fiance (who introduced me to guns in the first place) used to frequent Bullseye before it closed. She was a big fan of the full-auto stuff. She'd always wondered what happened--I'll point her to this thread.

Hello
When I lived in the Pittsburgh area(1995-2000), I'd go shooting at a good rental place in Youngwood PA. I can't recall the range's name but it was clean and well run. Jim Quinn the local right-wing radio DJ talked a lot about the same place. My good friend(and THR member) is a full member of a gun club in Pittsburgh but I'm not sure what the name is either. I know the Allegheny Gun Club had a huge fire and most of the bldgs were destroyed a few years ago. It may have re-opened in a different place.

One place I would AVOID is the "free" PA Game Commission/state range outside of Pittsburgh. My friend and I got cited by a jerk-off PGC officer who stacked a load of BS charges on us then used threats/intimidation when we told him we would plead not guilty. We went to the local court Justice and were cleared of the charges. :D

Our money was refunded and the Justice agreed that we were jerked around by the PGC officer. The fine and court fees for the PGC offense was $138.00 EACH! :cuss:

One piece of advice on Greater Pitt, If you happen to get involved out there with the shooting programs to the point your showing up at the monthly meetings on a regular schedule. During the time that club elections are being discussed and nominations are being put in, DON"T miss any meetings.
I made that mistake one year. I showed up one day to go shooting only to find out I was elected President of the club.:neener:
I'll never make that mistake again.

Definately a great place. I found out about it through THR not long after I moved to PA.
