Here's my scrubbed 98. There isn't a German mark on the rifle. In fact the only marks are the numbers are on the mag floor, the receiver and barrel, the rear sight base, and a single number on the bolt knob. Unusual to me. I bought it as a shooter, soon we'll see how it shoots...

Too bad... otherwise it looks nice. Stock looks a little worn in places but it's probably older than me. So I guess that's to be expected. :)
