A friend of mine wants an AK in the worst way, and I have been helping him look. There is not much selection in the shops we've looked at, but he found one he really likes. If I remember right, it is Hungarian, and I believe the price tag said SA 2000. He likes the black plastic stock, one of those skeletonized jobs.

What think ye?

The rifle features American made Choate synthetic "Dragunov" style stock with recoil pad and spacer for adjusting length of pull. An accessory cheek piece is available. The rifle also comes with a new AMD muzzle brake. Weight with empty mag is 7 Lbs. 11 oz. Overall length is 38-1/2", barrel length with the muzzle brake is 17-3/4". One ten round mag is supplied with each rifle. Extra mags are expensive at $39.00 retail. They are so high because KBI needs to amortize the new mag molds over a short production run. They fear that Clinton will likely ban this gun again in the future and KBI have to get tooling costs out of the first 5,000 rifles. Perhaps the price will come down after they ship that many guns. KBI started shipping the rifle on Monday of this week (04/19/99). Distributors who will be receiving the rifles this week are SOG, ABN, Zander's, Camfour, AcuSport, Ellett Brothers, Interstate Arms, The Trader's, RSR and SG Distributing. KBI expects retail price to be around $399.00. Have any dealer check with the above distributors to get the best price.

Hungarians are some of the most accurate AK's around. If you're comfortable with a dremel, file, or milling machine, you shouldnt have a problem opening up the mag well for double stack mags.
