Just bought a bunch of CCI blazers in .357, and these things are almost impossible to extract from the cylinder when fired. I shot 1 cylinder, then had to put the extractor rod against the seat, and lean on the gun to force them out. Ok, I thought, aluminum cases. I shot the rest off one at a time, so I could still manually eject the case. But when fired, I also see a blast of fire come out the sides of the gun, from the cylinder gap. Is this normal? I've never experienced it with any other ammo.

I have only used std pressure stuff with aluminum cases - but suspect the material is not so suitable for mag loads - it possibly does not ''realax'' as easily as brass after the ignition.

I wonder too if chambers are dead smooth - maybe a polish would help a tad.

As for flame - ammo does vary quite a lot - mag loads are invariably worse due to slow powder - some being worse than others. I do expect some flame excess from many mag loads - one of my homeloads was a fairly hot BlueDot load - plenty of fire there!

Not having tried your ammo cannot give a direct comparison.

I've fired a few boxes of the blazer 357
mag in my 65-3 with no problems.I did
do a slight polish in the chambers with
fine rubbing compound.

I've shot the Blazer .357 magnum ammo in all my magnums. I also had the same experience with the cases not wanting to extract in my Ruger GP100. I was advised by a gunsmith that Ruger doesn't polish the cylinder chambers to the same quality as S&W or the older Colts. I had him polish them up and I no longer have any problems.

My physical perception (noise, blast, recoil) is that the Blazer .357 ammo is a hot load. But all the documentation says otherwise.

My experience with aluminum cased CCI Blazer in .357 was that they were too slippery. They jammed up my Model 28's cylinder when firing, but dropped right out when I ejected them. I'm assuming they were slipping around when fired. No other .357 ammo has done this.

I agree they did seem pretty hot too. Maybe they just feel snappy and loud.

.38spl Blazer CCI tends to stick in my model 36 cylinder from time to time. It does not bother me, since my carry rounds pop out just fine, every time, and I never carry the Blazer.
