FAL Safety Lever

I noticed that DSA has an extended safety lever for the FAL. The lever allows the operator to push it into the fire position without taking the firing hand off of the weapon. Does anyone have this extended lever on their FAL? How does it work? Is it worth the money? Any downside?

I've never had trouble reaching the stock safety levers.
I do have the DSA semi auto lever on my FAL. It works way better than the original because with them you can't accidentally push the safety down too far and getting stuck between semi auto and the FA position that no longer does anything.

I've had both the normal safety lever and the inch-style extended version:

If you have small hands and cannot manipulate the normal lever, the extended version will help.

If you have medium to large hands, it will depend on the grip. If you have a Falcon Industries Ergo grip, the normal lever is a better choice because the ergo grip is thin and smaller than the other FAL grips. If you have the standard FAL grip, a SAW grip or a PSG-1 Style target grip, you'll likely find the larger safety more comfortable as all of these grips are on the blocky or large side.

If you have large hands, the extended lever might hurt more than it helps. I have medium-large hands, and with the rife with the Ergo grip on it, the larger safety was so far extended that it dug into my thumb between where it joins with my hand and the knuckle (I couldn't work my thumb onto it without changing my grip).

Putting the safety down into the FIRE position usually is not the problem, it's putting it back up to SAFE.

I put the extended safety onto a target FAL I did with the PSG-1 style grip and it works great in that application; I kept the normal safety on the rifle with the Ergo grip.

If you have any questions, let me know.

I found that the SAW grip changed the grip angle to make it easier for me to operate the standard safety without changing my grip.

IMO the SAW grip is an FAL essential part ... :)

I have extremely short thumbs and couldn't reach the safety even with the SAW grip. I absolutely love the extended lever and will never own an FAL without one.
