After another shooting outing with my .44spl coverted Blackhawk, I had to make a decision. M-Pro 7 had reacted badly with the refinish of the stock grip frame and it peeled like bad sunburn. Not the attractive look this pistol deserved.

I popped over to the Brownells web page and ordered up a brass grip frame. Two nights and a few hours of labor later and I think it looks great. Nice compliment to David's work. The extra heft will make it even nicer to shoot.

Blackhawks always look a little better with brass straps anyway,,,,,

I hope the M-Pro 7 doesn't eat the copper out of the new straps!

I am curious as to how the stock straps were refinished that caused them to peel?
Anodizing is not affected by solvents.
At least properly applied anodizing is not affected by solvents.

When I bought the pistol way back when (I think 1992), I removed the finish on the grip frame and ejector rod housing. The two tone look was a popular.

As part of his work, he replaced the original ejector rod housing with a steel one and it was reblued with the pistol. However, I kept the stock grip frame. David used an epoxy paint on that. Obviously M-Pro 7 doesn't like paint. :D
