Looking at the Lyman reloading manual, it states that the diameter of a projectile in a .357 Magnum round is actually .358 inches in diameter. The Hornady 158 XTP projectiles are .357 inches in diameter. I have found some other jacketed projectiles that measure .358 inches in diameter that I would also like to use in my 10 inch TC 357 Mag.

Is one better than the other, should only one of these two diameters be used? I don't want to load a projectile that will generate too high of a pressure (even though I will probably be using Lil-Gun, I don't want to risk things).

The best is to push a soft lead bullet thru the bore and measure it after. then typically use a diameter .001 oversize for jacketed, and .002 for lead.

Wolfe,
You probably won't have any problem with the 358 as cast bullets are that size for the 38/357. There are quite a few cast bullets that are as hard as jacketed bullets. If you are concerned, load the 358 with the recommended starting load. If you don't have any high pressure signs, then increase your powder if you want a more potent load.

Mostly what I see are .357" jacketed and .358" lead. Weird.
