Gun and Ammo ads on TV

What if? Hard Liquor ads have been back for a few years.

I'd like to see that Brinks commercial but instead of the security operator calling that lady goes and confronts that jerk trying to break in with a nice vintage Model 29. Then the jerk high tails it out of there!

"Smith and Wesson, no month monitoring fee requried!"


I'll bet Corbon would love to do an add showing some young punk loitering around. "Thinking about robbing someone at a gas station, think again, you're victim might be armed with ....."

They're not illegal or anything like cigaretts are.

I see Kimber and Springfiled on breaks during shooting shows on OLN

Regular networks wouldnt dare show them though. Thatswhy

Brinks = Sheeple. I especially get riled when they make dad look like a wimp. Mom takes over and saves the day. I imagine John Wayne is rolling in his grave.

None of the home security systems are truly useful against determined attackers. Just look at the BTK murderer. He knew how to get around them because he worked for the company.

If just one of his victims had been armed and prepared there would be one less mouth to feed at the prison for the next few decades.

When you lock up the burglars all together what do they discuss? Going straight, working hard, saving up their money? No, they swap info on how to get around locks, security alarms and where to target for the best hauls.

Prison isn't a deterrent to doing crime. It's a deterrent to getting caught.

There are gun ads on channels like OLN especially during the gun related shows but just not on major networks (probably due to the major networks being anti).
Those Brinks ads annoy me too. If they were accurate they'd show what really happens when the alam doesn't scare off the BG and he gets in (which would be way to violent and scary for a commercial). They should do some ads like the "My Anti-Drug" ads.

My inlaws have a "top of the line" security system for when they are gone during the winter. Last year while they were gone the power went out, and the battery backup failed. So, the alarm goes off. I get the call from the security system informing me the alarm went off, and told the police have been contacted. At the time I didn't know it went off because of the power, so I went flying out their with my shotgun. I get their and check the outside of the house and their was no sign of an intruder, so I decide to wait for the police. I called the Sherrifs department to let them know I am out their, and gave my vehicle description and my description so the responding officer wouldn't mistake me for the bad guy. I ended up waiting, get this, 30 minutes. It wasn't the officers fault, it just took a while to get their, my inlaws live out in the boonies. But, it showed me exactly how ineffective a security system is if you life depends on it.

Guns are a niche product, from the persepctive of each individual manufacturer. The sheer cost of TV commercials makes advertising guns uneconomical..

We get them on the outdoor network but thats ones of the big niche markets they have along with fishermen. For most channels its not very viable however that they would make enough money in sales to pay for the commercial.

Years ago my wife and I were on vacation out west. Now, Im from New Jersey and you never see gun ads on local tv. So you can imagine my reaction when I saw this ad.I could be wrong but I think the commercial was from a sporting goods shop in a place called Cut Bank Montana There was a guy holding an Enfield and saying something like"Hey listen up we just got a load of these nifty Enfield no.4 Mk1's and they are fine weapons,fine for plinkin' and powerfull enough for moose".And then holding up an Enfield spike bayonet he says "and it comes with a handy little screw driver".And then off camera you hear "Its a bayonet"The on screen guy looks at the bayonet and says "yeah right" looks at the camera and whispers "It's a screw driver" .

I heard a radio ad for a gunshop the other day. I was suprised. It was on the country music station.

In my city, the Sheriff's Office won't dispatch on a call from a security company unless the drop is verified because there were too many false alarms which tied up valuable resources. The security company has to send a company security officer to inspect the premises and if he can see the place has been broken into then the SO will send a deputy.

I had an electronic security system and it reported a drop to the monitoring station once. They sent their man and he couldn't find my house! Plus they charge you extra when they respond to inspect your property to verify a drop. I no longer have any electronic monitoring. What's the sense?

I don't buy the niche product argument. Jets skis and hottubs are niche markets too but I see them advirtised constantly here.

Maybe a gun manufacturor will do us all a favor an shoot that da** Burger King freak that likes to pop up in people's homes. :evil:
