XD 45 Range Report

I just bought my XD 45 on Thursday and took it out for spin today. Since this is my first 45 I had to stop by Wally World for some ammo. I picked up 100 rounds of American Eagle and went to the end of the road to an unofficial firing area. Loaded her up and started blasting away. An absolute dream to fire! No misfires, FTFs or FTEs. Every time I pulled the trigger it went BANG! and ejected the spent shell. One time I chambered a round and topped off the mag. Then I proceeded to squeeze off 14 rounds as fast as I could. I switched mags and shot off another 13 rounds as fast as I could. Absolutely flawless performance.

As for the holster that comes with it, forget about using it for CCW. It makes the pistol stick out way too far. Plus it's canted forward, whereas I'm a crossdraw concealer. So I went ahead and ordered a FIST #42 crossdraw holster for it.

If anyone is thinking about the XD 45, I can heartily recommend it.

Sounds like you had a great time. Yet another great XD range report - maybe I should get one before demand shoot the prices up even more.

I've heard only positives about the XD 45. Thanks for the report.

Anyone have any idea when the duotone tactical models will come out?

Greeting's Stage 2 My Friend-

Not really, but I was asked that very same question this week-end.
Also, what about the XD-.45 ACP sub compact? I think Springfield
is working on both projects; but I'm not completely sure. I will try
and catch up too our Springfield factory rep this week, and try to
get the scoop~!:D

Man, whatever SA is doing, it's working. Those XD 45's seem to be very popular pistols...I doubt they would have been nearly as popular w/o that big $$ support from Springfield's marketing money.

Just my thoughts, but I doubt marketing has much to do with the initial success of the XD 45. A service-sized gun which holds > 10 rnds of .45ACP has been much desired by many of us XD owners for years (but no one dreamed SA would completely change the grip design, not to mention having 13 +1). The overall success and reliability of the XD line over the last 4-5yrs just provided a "launching pad" for the XD45.

Once the word got out that there was something really new on the market, other gun brand owners checked it out, and liked what they saw. I'm sure XD realizes they have hit a "home run" with this gun and will add other options in the future (like maybe a sub compact:D :D :D )

If you like it, hurry up and get one. Has anyone checked the prices of CZ's lately? OUCH!

Stage 2 - The bi-tone Service and Tacticals are out. I picked up one of each today in Texas. These were test fired May 5th so the distribution channel is pretty quick. God bless.

How tall are the XDs? I find the CCO size pistol to be about the tallest I can readily carry.
