Scope: IMAO, don't get a scope mount and scope especially for a truck gun. I wouldn't do anything unless you can't get the stock sights to line up. If you must upgrade, get the Tech Sights. They work very well on my rifle.

I assume you have some need of a truck gun in Angleton. :)

Cosmoline: On the stock, I just wiped everything down real well. On the metal, I just gave every inch a good cleaning. Spray cleaners work with thin coats of cosmoline, but don't work well with thick stuff. I used old T-shirts, Q-tips, toothpicks among other things to get to all the crevices. On the bolt, I could not get it to come apart so I soaked it in mineral spirits and that dissolved the cosmoline out in a few hours.

Those web sites above can direct you to the procedure for taking it apart.
