The Regional Smith and Wesson factory rep was in town this weekend for a charity shoot. He brought the .500 with him.
One of the local gun shop guys brought along some Corbon ammo as well. Some shot the Barnes X 275gr. I went all out and shot the 440gr Cast Performance. Wow!!! Yes, recoil is more than substantial, but not the most painful I've fired.
Actually the new S&W 329 AirLite .44 Mag with 240gr Am. Eagle bothered me more. Go figure.
Anyway it was a blast to shoot these 2 new fine revolvers.
But I think I'll keep my 45LC's.
Now where's that Advil?

I really like the idea of that 329, but people are saying its pretty harsh. What kind of grips were on these two guns?

.500=Hogue Energy Absorbing Grips
329=Hogue Round Butt? and Ahrends Wood w/finger grooves.
We did not, I repeat did not shoot the 329 with the wood grips.
That would have been too much for us to handle.
Also, our group shot the 329 with .44SP CCI's. However, I only shot the 240GR Amer. Eagle. According to them, the 44SP were just right.

I think they call them IPL holsters for that pistol - inside the pant leg, isn't the barrel about 10" long?

i'm glad you brought this up. i went to S&W springfield mass. and they had one but would not let me shoot it.
they also told me there were only 12 prototypes at that time, less than a month ago.
then today i read american rifleman and theres an article in there that says "there were no prototypes made, it went straight to production"
but S&W told me they werent in production yet.
whos trying to pull the wool over who's eyes here? anybody know?

I know that the 329's are out because I bought mine last week.
Its a very nice revolver, I shot it over the weekend with both 44spl and some 210 gr silvertips.
The 165 gr corbons in 44spl were just right, the 44mags while plenty stout it was not painful and was very manageable.
I have not seen a IWB holster as of yet, the barel is not 10 inchs long its only 4 inchs. I did all my shooting with the wood grips, the rubber grips should only make it nicer to shoot. I would like to find a nice rubber grip that incloses the backstrap as the ones supplied dont. The only other thing I would like to do is get rid of the HiViz sights for some night sights.

What kind of grips were on these two gunsI was looking more for a grip that included wheels, a trailer hitch, and a lanyard...

Don't forget the safety chain and spare tire.
