Stainless Remmie?

Hey all,

So, even though I was planning on getting a Lyman Plains Pistol, I decided to take the advice of several on the forum and at least take a look at some Remmies.

Man!! So many choices! How am I supposed to decided when they all look so good?!:cuss:

So I saw a Stainless Remington .44 at Bass Pro Shop -- Are these good guns?

Depends on the actual manufacturer. Armi San Marco is crap. Pietta is a crapshoot. Uberti is quite good. Pedersoli is the best, but they don't make stainless Remington '58s, only blued. Most brick & mortar shops seem to sell Traditions guns, which I believe are just re-packaged Piettas.

Ruger Old Army. Satin Stainless

You may have to save your money a little longer, but you
will not ever get a better cap & ball revolver.

Good Luck

I have 3 Pietta 1858 Remington 44's, bought the first one in 2000 (Target Model) and then the other 2 in 2005 (one is an 8in barrel with standard notch sights and the other is a 5.5in barrel). All three are good quality weapons and I've not had any problems with any of them. Pietta upgraded their machinery and have been turning out good guns, occasionally you will get a dud but that's getting to be more the exception than the rule from what I've heard. Anyway, I've had good experience with them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another Pietta.
