Fellow High Roaders,

My good buddy in Maine, who I am visiting in late June, has a Glock 19 in the 9mm configuration. I would like to get him a gift that will be an excellent addition. The purpose would be to allow him to be able to see his sights at night for aiming at the target.

Could you please recommend the best sights, money is not an option. It would require sights that can be holster carried.

thanks, and have a great day
cavman

Meprolight, MMC, Heine, and Trijicon all produce excellent tritium sights for Glock pistols.
I like Meprolights and MMCs and I am sure others here like and use the other two manufacturers with complete satisfaction.
All produce sight sets that sell for under $150.00

I prefer Meprolights on my Glocks. I like the sights better than Trijicons (I pick them up better). I have Trijicons on 2 of my Kahrs and I'm not wild about them. I get mine from OMB police supply. Last time I purchased them they were $70. I recently put Ameriglo Smooth Slope night sights on my Glock 37 & 38. I like these alot and they're even easier than Meprolights for installation. Here's a picture:

I got mine off Gunbroker for about the same price as I pay for Meps, although ordering direct will cost you about $110.

SouthPaw,

How would one discern which of the many sizes to choose from? There are 12 pages and they are all different heights from .165 to double that to .315, as well as many others.

I wouldn't know which to begin with.

edit: Ameriglo

Should be in Autos. ;)

I prefer Heinies myself. Straight 8's are fast and clean, three dots are just too busy for me. Brownell's carries them, I believe.

You order by Glock model number. Don't mess with the various heights unless your friend is having trouble with shooting to POA. For instances, the correct Ameriglos that I suggested would be GL-127. These should give you the same POI as Glocks factory plastic sights. I can't get a direct link to work but go to the online store at www.ameriglo.com and click the upper leftmost pictures of the sights. This will list the appropriate products for each Glock model.
See if this works: www.ameriglo.net/store_pages/glock_tritium_sights.html

I had stock factory night sights on my Glock23 a while ago. Didn't really think they were great, since they were sort of hard to acquire quickly in total darkness. But they worked.

I've got a question about night sights as well. I had been looking at getting a Glock 23 with night sights and this thread seemed perfect for the question.

I like the sights on my Browning Hi-Power, they're the medium height sights, from the rear they appear as three white posts, and you just line up the top edges. They are very precise, and I get decent groups at 50 yards. It doesn't seem to me like I could get very good groups (at that kind of range) with just the three dots. For close up, that seems great.

My question is, can you also use the top edges of the sights like a traditional sight picture, and have the same point of impact, or are you limited to just using the three dots?

Cavman -

Lots of folks (myself included) like Heinies on Glocks. If you go that route, opt for the Black-T fininsh.

I personally have the Truglo TFO's on my Glock 19 and they are superb. Not only for night, but during daylight as well. Given they're really pretty much the same price as those that only illuminate in darkness, I think it's a no-brainer.

I have Meps and TFOs on my Glocks. They both function well as designed but I just don't like the way the TFO front sight looks, too long. Like the Meps better..

I have the TruGlo TFOs on my Glock 23 and like them very much. Exceptionally visible both day and night.

Give your friend a set of Ameriglos that are consumer-installable, without the use of a sight pusher for the rear sight. Call or e-mail Ameriglo for the correct sight for the G19. Ameriglo furnishes a front sight tool with their sights. The rear of some of their sets is installed with a setscrew...without the necessity of a sight pusher. Last time I checked, Ameriglo was using Trijicon tubes, which offer a more expensive and more durable mounting system than do Mep and some other brands.
