I recently picked up a 500 Persuader, eight shot variety and I am thinking about using it on a few quail hunts next season instead of my 870 for a little variety.
My question is, is there a place that sells a long enough plug to make it legal for hunting?( from an eight shot capacity to a two shot capacity in the tube)

OR, do I just need to cut a dowl to size?
Thanks for any help

If you cut a dowel as a magazine plug, two points:
one, cut to length that will allow two 3" shells as well as two 2 3/4"
two, bevel the ends of the dowel so they wont catch on the
spring coils or the hole in the end of the tube.

I wax a wooden magazine plug; it may not help, but it doesnt cause
problems.

Carl,
Thanks for the tip on beveling the tips of the dowl, I had not thought of that.
Best,
