1st Does anyone have one of the new tactical 1100s with the 22" barrel giving you 8+1 and remchoke? I priced one for $640 out the door the other day. My safe has been talking to me and telling me as to how it needs one!:uhoh:
2nd A friend has an older 1100 with remchokes for $275. Its rough, probably around 50% or so but I just want it for 3 gun comps really. But it would need some work to perform for the 3 gun contests. Mag extension, etc.
What would end up being the better way to go?

Chuck,
While I don't have the 1100 Tactical, I did buy a used 1100 for $100 and 'converted it' to become a 'clone' of the 1100 Competition Master.
The 'CM' and the 'Tactical' are the same except for the 'Tactical' green finish job, from what I've read. Someone else might have better information, but, they 'appear' to be the same.
Here are the 'major' components to the Competition Master, from Remington:
(Part Number, description, cost/price)
F300903 MAGAZINE TUBE EXTENSION ASSEMBLY 22" BLACK OXIDE $24.65
F103255 MAGAZINE EXTENSION SWIVEL ASSEMBLY PARKERIZED $31.40
F93463 MAGAZINE EXTENSION BRACKET SCREW $3.85
F99833 MAGAZINE TUBE COUPLING $13.50
F300892 MAGAZINE SPRING, 12 GAUGE, 9 SHOT $3.25
F240508 1100 BARREL, 12 GAUGE, 22" VENT RIB, REMCHOKE $196.00
F300902 1100 COMPETITION MASTER CARRIER ASSEMBLY $29.10
If I added that right, it looks like $301.75 from Remington, plus tax, plus shipping and handling.
I didn't list the synthetic stocks from Remington because the Speedfeed stocks are virtually the same and can be obtained from CTD for a lot less than from Remington. (I got the Speedfeed III PG stock and forend for $60.)
This set-up looks good with the factory wood furniture, too. Something about blue steel and walnut. It just floats my boat!
Also, I didn't list the 'big' operating handle. It goes for $15.00 if you're interested. (Note: The Operating Handle is different for 'older' 1100s. Check with Remington for exact dates!) :)
To me, the 22" barrel is perfect and the Carrier Assembly is worth it's weight in gold. The carrier assembly's 'button' is at least twice as long as a standard 1100 or 11-87's button, and yes, this part fits the 11-87, as well.
Fully loaded, the 'Competition Master' and 'Tactical' are quite 'front heavy' for my tastes, but, once you start shooting it, you LOVE it!!!
Thanks for reading. . .
