I recently bought a used M700 Sendero .300 win mag from a fellow board member that came with a Burris Signature 8x32 scope that has a daylight/twilight feature...
Does anyone have any experience with this scope? What can you tell me about it?? Seems pretty solid, clear glass, mildots, mounted in BO rings & base...
Let me know what you know about this one please! Thanks!
Bill

The Burris Signature is a very good scope. Clear, clean and bright optics. The daylight/twilight function is very similar to the f stop in cameras. It can increase or decrease the amount of light that is transferred through the scope. If you look into the objective - front end - and turn the dial, you will see the aperature open and close just as a camera does. If you are hunting and the sun is in your face, you can close down the amout of light entering the scope so that you can still see through the scope. You also open the aperature up to increase the light at dawn or dusk. It works well, but must not have been a big seller as Burris discontinued the daylight/twilight adjustment.

I have one.
The way I see it, the Daylight/twilight rotation is much higher torque than the objective focus.
Rotating the aperature adjustment in the "Daylight" direction throttles down the opening at the objective.
That has the advantage of better depth of field, that is nearer and futher things are in focus [like with a camera].
That has the disadvatage of being dimmer.
None of this make much difference on 8X power, but at 32X power, focus is very sensitive and depth of field is terrible.
For me, even in bright daylight, I need all the brightness I can get at 32X with a 44mm objective, so I leave it on twilight.
Each ground squirrell then requires me to:
Lie down in the dirt.
Look through the binoculars for a target.
Find and target, range, and angle.
Locate target in riflescope on low power.
Increase scope power and keep target in view.
Adjust objective of scope.
Try to hit a 1" kill zone at 150 yards, while adjusting for a 15 mph wind.
Try to confirm kill during recoil or right afterwards.
Wait for another target to try to eat last target.
Repeat 300 times.
The result of this is that I turn the power knob and focus knob for every shot.

starting to appear like it's quite problematic... I'll get to try it out for the 1st time tomorrow at high noon, forecasting about 90 degrees and plenty of sunshine here in the foothills of NC... We'll see if she's a keeper or trade fodder! The original owner put almost $800 into this thing! Kinda like chroming out a pinto... Don't have the highest expectations, so I certainly won't be too awful disappointed if it turns out to be trade fodder! A shifting point of impact on top of a .300 win mag could get pricey/frustrating!
Thanks for sharing! Anyone else???
