I've found a good deal on a taurus 445 in .44 special with a spurless hammer. But i'd rather have a hammer can i just get a hammer with a spur and install it?
Here is the gun in question.

Since the model 445 was made in a hammer version I would think that you could get a hammer. However this may be a restricted part requiring factory or gunsmith fitting. I would contact Taurus and ask...

Yep, call Taurus, they'll sell you one.

WHERE did you find a 445? I've been looking for one of those for over a year, am beginning to think I may have to settle for a Charter Arms.

I've wanted a 445 for a long time. Ended up settling for a 455. ABout a month later I saw a 445 at a local gunshow, but, as I had sworn off any new (to me or otherwise) guns for a while, I let it pass. Now I'm kicking myself. I'm sure the hammer is common to other models that are still in production. Getting Taurus to sell you the part shouldn't be a problem. Getting them to ship it might be.

Looked over the Charter a few times. Keep putting it back down. That is one ugly revolver (and I've read lots of horror stories about the guns going out of time in short order). Kind of looks like a Thunder Five compared to the new Taurus offering in .45 Colt/.410.
