What did Springfield do to their Operator?

While browsing their website to drool over the TPR Operator I plan on purchasing soon, I noticed they updated the picture.

The TRP Operator now has a short accessory rail just like their other railed guns. Does anyone know what the the story is behind this? Did they discontinue their full length rail model? If so, what a damn shame!

Better get those eyes checked brother . . .

OK, it doesn't look the same. What's the big deal? Where the light sits, the extra length is not being used and it actually cuts down on the chunky look of the pistol.

I had one of the first model Operators. I found the full length rail a little heavy. In those days there was little to carry it in either.. I sold it and picked up a MC Operator and I love it. Just wish more holsters were out there for the guns with rails....The leather and polymer industry will hopefully catch up.

It was changed because more people wanted the shorter rail.
