Why is the Colt Series 70 auto considered superior to the other models of the colt 45 auto?

Actually, it isn't, not by me.
The usual reason is that it does not have the superfluous parts of the Series 80 firing pin block. But the Series 70 has its own mutation, the collet bushing, that can cause trouble.
I think the current Series 70 "reissue" with neither would be preferable.

It's pretty simple to fit a one-piece bushing to replace those old collet bushings. I did it, not that I'd ever had any problems, but just as a pre-emptive strike. :)
