Getting one, have been looking at the reloading side of it, and am wondering if anyone has a favorite accuracy load. Really need info on the bullet weight that most have found to be compatible with the remington barrel and twist rate (which I DON'T know). I'll never take it hunting around this state, it'll get it's mandatory 100 rounds thru paper and then I'll retire it and go back to the STW and 270 for the most part. But I've been wanting one of these caliber rifles for awhile and finally got it. Remington 700 BDL blue and wood.

I hate to disappoint you, but neither the BDL or CDL are available in .338 RUM. IIRC, it only comes in the XCR model.

My other question is why would you buy a rifle that you intend to shelf after 100 rounds???

Remington's 2004 catalog lists the 700 BDL in .338 Ultra Mag. It was made.

Well I just want one and worked a few (mandatory) weekends. The ultramags appear to be comming to an end in the larger bores, actually looks like the 7mm RUM might be on its way out also. Anyways, if I get the nerve to put a muzzlebrake on it, I might try and make a regular varmit rifle out of it.:o . I just want one; nuff said.. Oh yeah- I DID buy one. Now those darned supervisors are going to make me work some more weekends. Come on down 375 RUM. MachIVshooter - being in CO i'd figure you see those rifles every now and then- I have tried to buy a rifle from Aurora ACE Hardware but t hey sold it before I found out about it.

I also have the Catalog here and they are avalible in the CDL and BDL

I dont think you will keep it if you dont paln on acctually Useing it for something other then a conversation peice.

Bought it- haven't "got" it in the mail, yet. Haven't sold any of the other rifles, and haven't shot the win 100 in 284, the win 70 in 300 RUM, several model 700-7mm & 7mm STW, and quite a few shotguns.Haven't shot the A-bolt 338 win either. Shot the 376 SBS prohunter all I could stand (wallet and shoulder were in pain) and plan on shooting the 338 RUM PLENTY. Still asking for some bullet recomendations.
