Ok, so I went to a shop and saw a KonusPro 6-24 x 44 scope, it was really inexpensive and I only needed a scope for a day, just to do the barrel break-in on a new rifle. So I asked him about it, he told me it's junk, you won't like it. I asked him why? he told me... cause it's junk, trust me. you won't like it!

So I bought it anyway.... figured if i didn't like it, I'd slap it on the .22. My argument was... well since I never heard of Konus before, it's probably a NEW company. Therefore they might even make BETTER optics cause they're trying to get themselves known. Heck, I'm sure at one time or another, people thought Leupold or Nikon was junk.

in any case... the eye relief on this thing is awful. but maybe it's just me, or the way I have it set. I'm not an optics expert, so I don't know what everything is called. There's a yardage adjustment in the back... ranges from 15 yrds to infinity.. not sure what it does.
Then, the front of it, where you look in, turns also... not sure what THAT does. Reticle focus maybe? then, of course there's the 6 - 24 power adjustment. would ANY of these affect the eye relief?

Thanks.

Sort of...the adjustable ring with the yardage is an adjustable objective lens. If you have it set at 100 yards but are trying to shoot at a target at 50 yards, the image will do weird things, you'll get something called paralax error and it'll be hard to stabilize the image with the crosshairs. The AO needs to be set to whatever the distance to the target is. The other ring that you mentioned is probably reticle focus. I'd check the instructions and see what the eye relief for that scop is. Many are very specific and will say 3 inch, 3.5 inch, 4.1 inch, soething like that. You may find it's an extended eye relief scope made for scout mount or handgun (though unlikely).
Good luck.

definitely not extended... it seems this thing is SO precise! like, if I move just a hair to the left, right, up, down, forward, or back.... I see NOTHING but black. To the point where it's annoying, and I'm not even sure if it's worthy of my .22 now. But I'll say it again... it might just be me, or the settings it's on. I don't wanna dog the company. it may work for someone else.

I had posted a question about the Konus line in the accessory section here, but never got any replies. I had a chance to look thru one of the 3x12x50's at a local store last week and it didn't look too bad. Only trouble was that they didn't have any Leupolds, etc. to compare with at the time. On Jim Owens website, he is touting one of the Konus spotting scopes, saying it compares well against the higher priced Kowa's.
