What's the hottest .357 ammo available on the market right now?

I've got a 6" Model 28 and shoot mostly Federal Hydrashock or Speer Gold Dot 158gr in it. In that big revolver, they just don't feel all that stout. I'd like to try a "full house" .357 in it and I'm not setup to reload yet.

These guys are contenders:

Cor-Bon's 180 and 200 hunting loads are thumpers too...but I think BuffBore rules right now.

Odd note about BuffBore's testing: for some reason newer-era S&W barrels and Rugers shoot "faster" than classic S&W 27/28 barrels. Although cylinder gap dimensions probably matter at least as much...

You might want to check out some Double Tap ammo as well.

They're right up there with the biggest loads on the market.

I shot some Doubletap 125gr and yeah, they were a handful in a Ruger New Vaq :).

With lighter bullets, the 90 grain Super-Vel use to approach 1500 fps from
a 6" tube. Of course, this was a Lee Jurras invention that took off like a wild
fire~!:D

Say, has anybody got any of that ammo left over?

For the more budget conscious shooter, .357 Remington-UMC 125 gr. jacketed soft points (yellow box) provide considerable excitement. 1,600 to 1,650 fps in my GP-100 with a big circle of flame from the B-C gap.

These were available at Wal-Mart.
