What is your next gun purchase?

I feel an empty void in the classic revolver area. I am looking at 45LC by a classic manufacturer like the Colt (SAA), S&W or possibly Ruger.
Anyone else have a specific type of firearm in their sights?

There was a S&W 17 sitting in the case a couple weeks ago. Some of the bluing was worn and it is expensive for a .22LR. Still, I thought about it. My excuse is that I need to work on my DA pull and the .22LR semis out there are SA.
I went in to look at it again. Sold! There is a Colt Python sitting there thoug. Normally I don't look at Colts much, but something made me look. Big mistake - great trigger, 4" barrel has a nice balance.
So now I'm looking at an even more expensive gun.:banghead:

Welcome to THR. My post of this thread was my 1,000th post!. Try a M1 Garand, you will probably really like it. Also, the M1A is a truly great rifle to shoot. I am sorry I waited so many years to get one.

I am looking for a long range precision rifle and a battle rifle so my next rifle will be an Armalite AR-50 or a custom built .338 Lapua, or either a Fulton Armory M14 dropped into a Sage Tactical stock or a JLD PTR-91.
Guess it all depends if I get a sign on bonus and how hard it ends up being for me to get college paid for.

In about 3 years, when I get done with school, I'd like to buy a Springfield TRP Pro or Ed Brown Classic Custom. I won't have enough money to buy anything before then, or enough time to go shooting to make it worthwhile.
I bought a Yugo SKS last June that's only been to the range once (80 rounds) and a CZ-75B SA last August that's only been to the range 2 or 3 times (440 rounds). If I make any big gun related purchases before I'm done with school, it'll be sending my CZ to Miossi Gun Works for an action job, hard sear, and steel trigger.

Boy, there are some great ideas mentioned above!
Up until very recently I owned nothing but high-end revolvers, all-steel pistols and blued/wood rifles and shotguns. But I recently added my very first polymer-framed gun. Two of them, actually.
Just acquired a 10mm G29 and a 4" XD-45, so there won't be any "next gun purchases" for quite a while!

I'm thinking maybe an Olympic Arms Plinker+ AR15 or a Keltec SU16.
Given I'm in Jersey (not many "rifles allowed" ranges around), I probably ought not buy either of them, and just get a pistol caliber carbine instead.
Should common sense set in, I'll look at the Beretta CX4, ruger PC4, or Keltec
SUB2000 in .40.

Well, not really planning on one as I am buying things for the guns I already have, but I do plan on getting another stripped AR lower before the 2008 elections just to hold onto for a rainy day (If Hillary wins I'll quickly buy the parts to make a traditional 5.56mm AR to go with it before she bans it all).
If Springfield Armory decides to have the plant in Croatia make it, I'd buy a subcompact version of the XD45ACP.

Sometimes I look back at a gun purchase and want to kick myself! For example I was looking at 375 H&H because I thought it would be fun to shoot and is an interesting cartridge. I found a really nice pre-64 Winchester Model 70 for about $750, but got a CZ 550 American Magnum because it was less expensive. With Winchester closing production on the Model 70 I am sure the prices, especially on pre-64 models, are sky high. Oh well, the CZ is still nice.

Okay so maybe it's more of a wish list. :P
In actuality, and in no particular order or priority, I'm considering a new Mossberg 590 (I had one but sold it years ago and regret it now), a Saiga 12 shotgun converted to a K-type by Tromix (http://www.tromix.com/saiga.htm), a M1A SOCOM (I or II, doesn't matter to me, whichever's cheaper), a CZ-P01, or a HK USP .45.
I could buy a Saiga 12 for cheap and convert it for 350 more, and still have money leftover to get a Mossberg 590 and a CZ-P01 for the price of either the SOCOM or the USP (maybe I can squeeze in one more, such as the Saiga sans conversion if I went with the USP). If I won the jackpot or got willed a ton of money though, you'd bet I'd be all over that list and then some. Man, firearms are expensive....

Can't afford one for awhile.
My last one was an AR-15 and I still need equipment for it.
In order, my list is going to go something like this:
1. about 1K of ammo for the AR. I have a little on hand for it now but I want an ammo can full of SS-109 and some type of fragmenting stuff.
2. AR-mags (I need about 6 more).
3. ARMS mount for the AR carry handle and a compact, decent 4x scope.
4. Sending off my Imbel FAL and having the barrel cut down to 17".
Then...
Finally...
If I can afford it... a Glock 20.

Not sure.I got back into guns following a 7 year hiatus and managed to go from a single gun to 26 in a year and a half.I still haven't even fired one of the AR-15's or the K31 and have only shot my HK SL8 twice so I probably need to budget for more shooting time than more things to shoot.I'd like a subcompact pocket pistol like a Seecamp and I'd like to get a .50 before we aren't allowed to have them anymore but neither are immediate needs.A P7 would be cool as I think it's one of the "must haves" for pistol shooters along with a 1911,BHP,S&W Model 10,PPK,Single Six,a SIG of some sort and a Glock.I'm sure that list is going to grow when I decide what I need to add next.

Well in the last 3 months I've spent about $2000 or so on a couple of new guns, a really good spotting scope, a bunch of accessories and some reloading supplies. My wife doesn't mind BUT(!) - SHE KEEPS SCORE - :D and it's gonna cost me - soon - so it'll be a while before I get another new firearm (3 or 4 months at least) but when I do this is the list I'll be deciding on and will get one of them.

I just got a Remington 700 ADL in the .270 flavor last week. My next addition will be one of the following Pistols:
Star FireStar in .45 acp / CZ 83 in .380 / Springfield XD .45
My next LONG GUN: :what:
Marlin 336 in 30.30 / CEMTE .308 / Mosin-Nagant Tula w/Hex reciever / one day = M-1 Garand .30 cal
That is my current wish list. I 'm trying to stay w/ caliber that I already own to minimize the types of ammo I have to purchase and store. :scrutiny:
I have three hungry AK's, and two SKS's that haven't been fed lately. I will be so happy when the 7.62 X 39 starts rolling back in the country. :cuss:
I've got ammo boxes sitting everywhere. I hope my homeowners agent doesn't drop by for fried chicken & iced tea one Sunday afternoon.

Most likely a Sig 556. Of course, that won't be until next year, sometime after I've gone over the wire into Free America.

Remington 700 .308 LTR. Ordered it today.
Deciding on all of the proper accessories is a somewhat enjoyable but time-consuming task.

I had a kimber ultra, colt combat elite, trophy match, commander in 38super, H&K P7M8, S&W airweight&airlite, rem 700, mini 14 by accuracy systems, springfield v10, naa guardian 380, naa 22 mag but am now going with the basics. With little time to shoot, i still find it necessary to have the rifle/shotgun/handgun package nearby. I am goin with a G23, Kel Tec SU16ca, Mossberg 500 with sidewinder. The SU 16 is my new purchase.

Although the FN SPR A2 and SL Shotgun came in, I actually bought a Kimber 82 from the CMP before anything else 12 days after my original post.

I'll probably hold off buying anything new for myself until early next year. That way, I can save my pennies for this:
http://www.lewismachine.net/images/product/L2B.jpg
A Lewis Machine & Tool Rail-mounted M203 grenade launcher w/ 9" barrel. I've got an M-16 this would look great on.

OEF_VET, what would you fire out of it? I would imagine HEDP and the like would all be destructive devices on their own, but are star clusters and practice rounds also DDs? What about the buckshot rounds?
I was planning on one of these:
http://www.kimberamerica.com/images/pistols/compact/large_procarry2.jpg
but know it looks like its gonna be one of these:
http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Images/5298/5298-md.jpg
every time I go to get a new 1911, something else breaks on the Jeep. I can't win.
...course I could stop wheeling and then maybe the Jeep would stop breaking...no thats not an option.

Mumbles,
The HE rounds are DD's and require the $200 tax. (However, since I'm already an FFL/SOT, it wouldn't THAT difficult for me to change to being a Type 9 FFL, and avoid those costly transfer fees. I'd just have to buy the rounds as the corporation, and not as a private individual.)
The blue training rounds, with the orange powder, are not DD's, so do not require a transfer tax. They are also not too expensive. From what my research has shown, the ILLUM, CS, and Flechette rounds are not DD's, either.
The biggest problem for folks who do buy M-203's is finding a place to fire them. However, I have enough friends who are gun nuts and own sizeable pieces of property, that I don't think I'd have too much difficulty finding someone who wants to shoot off a few rounds of HE. :D

I am really leaning toward 3 guns. I am thinking a Kel-Tec P3AT for pocket carry, a Ruger SP101 because I think I need another wheelgun and last but not least an AK47 of some sort, probably with a folding stock just because I don't have many Mil. Arms.

You are a VERY lucky man, OEF. I toted one of those 203 monsters through three tours, and hated every minute.
YMMV, but I detested mine.
(of course, Uncle would'nt issue HE to the "line" then >:)
I'm looking at another M-1A.

Steamship,
I'll admit humping a -203 isn't all that much fun. Lord knows, I never liked it myself. But, pulling it from the safe, throwing it ito the trunk, and taking it out for a few rounds is another thing altogether.

I have in mind to buy three (not sporterized) of the "American Enfields" (1917 30 cal) used in WWI, one manufactured by Winchester, one by Edistone, and one by Remington.
After watching the WWI series they ran on the Military Channel, I thought it would be neat to collect (and shoot) a few rifles from that era.

I've been on a long gun wave...I was not a big long gun shooter, but my last purchases have been Beretta 391, 10/22, M1A and most recently my RRA middy :D I think next will be a bolt action rifle (caliber TBD) :D
...or maybe another 1911, a blue one this time :D

I kind of want to upgrade my T/C G2 pistol(.223, .221 &.410/.45LC) to a rifle but can't make up my mind. A .50 cal muzzle loader with iron sights or a tack driver with a scope?
