I am looking to replace my 4" fixed sighted GP-100 with a 2.75" fix sight barrel. It is SS. Where can I find one for sale?

Yes. There is a special conversion tool available known as a "hacksaw" :D.

Seriously, you might be better off chopping it if the gun shoots well now and has a respectable barrel/cylinder gap. Once chopped and crowned, have a dovetail cut for whatever front sight you want.

Assuming this is a stainless gun, the barrel threads can spall when removing the stock barrel and it might never be quite right afterwards. Having a gunsmith chop/crown/dovetail may be safer overall.

I havn't seen any 2.75" barrels for the GP-100,
ruger might refit yours with a 3" barrel.Any
good smith can shorten yours but should run
you about 150-180 dollars.

1. Trade your 4" GP100 for a 2-3/4" GP100

2. Send it to Ruger. They'll do it right. FYI - Ruger won't sell you the barrel uninstalled.

3. Do it yourself if you have the know how and the proper tools.

Numrich sometimes has the barrels (Used)

I've bought SP101 parts off eBay;

Here's a 2-3/4" GP100 barrel and trigger group:

I don't think Ruger will modify the gun unless it was sold in that configuration at some point. IE They will replace spur hammer with a spurless hammer on a 2.25" SP101 but not a 3" because it was never sold that way. If the GP was sold with a 2.75" barrel they should replace it for a fee of course, if not they won't. Give them a call and let us know what happens.

Yep, Ruger said they would not sell me the parts. I guess I will forget about it for a while. Thanks guys.
