well not true makarovs but not payign $300 for a makarov in these crazy days. i can choose between an FEG PA-63 or a Polish Vanad.

Sounds like the Polish is a better weapon and closer to a Mak but I'd liek to hear opinions from the experts. So chime in. :)

I'd almost prefer an air pistol to BOTH of the guns you've mentioned. The ones I've tried had triggers than required a bumper jack.

Bulgarian Maks are generally less expensive than $300, if you look around. There are a LOT of guns available for under $300 that are far superior to the ones you've mentioned, and far cheaper to shoot.

Look around some more.

There are still some under $200 Bulgarian 9x18 Makarovs around but you have to look for them. Check out the pawn shops and gun shows.

I bought a Russian .380 Mak a little while back for $179 OTD and a friend bought another for $200 at the last gun show. It seems I see almost as many .380 Maks as 9x18 now.

I've got a Hungarian PA63 and three Polish P-64s but I don't recommend them unless you are comfortable with working on them to improve the trigger, etc and in any case they aren't the gun a Makarov is.

$300 is a little steep.

Unless...of course...you're talking about some unusual type of Makarov.
Perhaps a Chinese model.
Or a good quality East German.
Or....perhaps....let's say.....A HI CAP MODEL! Hmmmm!

J'accuse! J'accuse! :D

I think we see the truth now! Your Hi-cap thread never mentioned a price. Have we perhaps now learned the truth about your Hi-Capacity Makarov? Will further revelations come to the avid followers of your threads? Should my posts' attempt at faux ambush journalism ever been done in the first place?
These and other exciting questions will be answered during our next installment of....Makarov Passions! :D
