Wondering where one can shoot in Mobile, or within a reasonable drive?
Im talking public or private ranges, or is there any public land that one can shoot at around there.
May be moving back into the area soon, and am wondering what my options are

Styx River Shooting Center. Go east on I-10 and cross Mobile Bay. Keep going until you get to the Wilcox exit, it's the last exit before Florida. Turn left and cross back over the interstate and make take the first right. Be careful that you don't head up the I-10 westbound exit ramp:what: . There will be signs pointing the way. The name of the road is something like Water World Rd. Take that road a mile or so until you get to the big red metal building. They have 200yd rifle, 25yd pistol, trap, skeet, and 5 stand. BTW, there is no more Mobile Shooting Center. There's an indoor range somewhere in Saraland...I think. Hope this helps.

We just like to shoot out in the woods :)
Mobile Shooting center is across the bay now, along with Styx.
Saraland shooting center is where I go about once a month during my lunch hour. It's an indoor range with 2 rooms, 8 bays each, and electric target conveyors. You can also rent class 3 full auto :D
I also know several areas of land just to go shoot at, public and private (friends and family)
What are you gonna be shooting?

Styx River is an excellent place to shoot. The people who work there are nice, the people that shoot there are friendly, and the place is well maintained. They are very shooter focused.
I may be wrong (but I am pretty sure of this) but be aware that in Alabama, you need a CCW to drive with a pistol in the car. Even if it is in the trunk, you still need a CCW. A retired DOJ agent told me this and I checked Packing.org. It would be interesting to hear from a AL lawyer or LEO. I had stopped going to Styx until my CCW arrived in the mail.

In Mobile county, you just go downtown to the Sheriff's dept. downtown. It took all of 15 min, but you will need to show proof of residency.

I shoot everything... handguns, shotguns, rifles, etc.
I would prefer to shoot in the woods. We have an endless supply of public land in Oregon (ie state forests) That is usually where I go. Ranges are nice too, but I prefer the solitude of the woods. Its more relaxing.
