I'm looking for a pellet gun for cheap and quiet practice indoors and in the back yard. Power isn't important, it just needs to be strong enough to punch paper. What I'd like is good balance, a good trigger (something that feels like a single action or at least a light, smooth DA), good sights and maybe 1/2"-1" accuracy at 10 yards.

Does anybody have any experience with anything like that?

Basically, it's a China-made knock-off of a much more expensive gun...and has gotten some very good write ups. One shooting buddy has one, shoots a lot of off hand at home in his den, and became a much better real-pistol shot becasue of it.

plikguns.com A boatload of info on match grade air pistols. I had started off with a Beeman Tempest, similar in size and weight to a standard pistol, but the trigger has a bit to be desired. After surfing the pilk site I bought an izh 46 Single pump pneumatic. A year later I bought a steyr compressed air pistol. The only limit is what you're willing to spend.the Steyr is the most accurate thing I've ever shot, in a rest it will put 5 shots in a ragged hole!

I second the Marksman 2004. I've put about 1500 pellets through mine and it's going strong. Accuracy and trigger are very good. My only complaint is the style of loading and cocking, which isn't difficult, just a little clumsy if you're shooting for speed.

Mine favors pointed pellets, which are also easier to load by a good margin (the point is much easier to center in the barrel than a wadcutter). I honestly don't think you'll get a better pellet pistol without spending at least twice as much.

Thanks for the replies. That Marksman 2004 looks like just what I'm looking for.

Dam8, I couldn't get www.plikguns.com to work. Are you sure that's the right address?

I use a Crossman 1008 Repeter that I bought at Wal-Mart. If you cock the hammer, it dosen't have a hard pull on the trigger. It's cheap & feels pretty good.

you can also check out airsofts.
I have a cheap spring action one that is fun to plink with in the basement.
