Which types of guns do you carry?

Vote for any that you carry on a regular basis.

Only guns I have ever carried: Kahr MK40/K40, BHP, 1911 patterns, Glock 17/34.

In the pursuit of sameness I have been carrying the G17 exclusively for some time now, that will change when I decide it is time to go back to competing with 1911s again.

My 95% gun -- S&W Model 042 in .38 Spl.

About 1% -- Taurus PT-22

About 1% -- Kahr K9

The rest of the time, a mix between an S&W Model 19 2.5", 4" Model 58, or a 4" Model 28.

Howdy,

I carry the following, depending on my dress, mood, and location. Usually I carry the J-Frame and one of the pistols.

-S&W 342PD Airlite .38 Special, Magsafe Defender or Speer Gold Dot 125 grain JHP (+P)

-HK USP45 Compact .45ACP, Speer Gold Dot 230 grain JHP

-S&W 6946 9x19mm, Remington 115 grain JHP (much to my dismay, this is my department issued duty gun and ammunition, so I have to carry it on-duty, and every once in a while I carry it off-duty)

I have a Kahr K40 .40S&W that I used as an off-duty/backup gun with my last department. I haven't gotten a chance to qualify with it since I changed departments, but as soon as I do it will be added to the list, with Winchester 155 grain Silvertip ammo.

I thinned my herd of what I didn't use much and what was left was an old Detective special carried almost all the time and a SIG 239 in forty caliber. Usually carried at work, reliable, accurate and the best semi auto double action trigger pull I've used.

On the rare occasion that I'm in uniform, I carry a SIG 220 in 45.

The choice is alot easier now that I've cut down the number of options.

I carry my foo size 1911 about 95% of the time I carry, the other 5% is done with a Makarov.

About 85% of the time, a Commander .45, at work and on my own time.

Rest of the time, split between a lightweight 2" .38 (Agent or S&W M37,) and a P32. Occasionally a full size 1911 or a High Power.

When going to and from the range, or out "into the field," I'm apt to carry almost anything-- .45 Colt Mountain Gun, a .357 4-inch, or whatever . . . . I just plain LIKE handguns, but I stay pretty close to a couple of standard pieces for personal defense.

Best,
Johnny

I choose 3" 38/357 but you do not have a spot for a 9mm revo

mod 940-1 2" 9mm
mod 60-4 3" 38 spec
mod 13-4 3" 357

rarely 1911 sistema
even more rare glock19

for, "the full size 9m/m or larger caliber auto".

For me, the full size .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220A
works really well!:)

All of them, in a guitar case. :neener:

Seriously I've been training for CCW with a full sized Hi-Power, but just recently picked up a steel 2 inch 357. Either one will suffice my needs.

I've had a carry permit for five+ years. Started out with a Colt Diamondback .38, 4". About three years ago I recieved a S&W .45 for my birthday, so I've carried that since then.

Interesting poll results. I'm somewhat surprised to see the high percentage of mid to large frame autos that are carried. More surprised to see the small frame steel revolvers slightly edge out the alloy frame ones. Really surprised to see that mini revolvers edge out mini autos.

Of course the mode of carry was not specified (concealed, open, off body, etc). If concealed were specified, I would suspect the smaller sizes would have a greater showing. But, maybe not. If you feel by necessity you REALLY need to conceal carry - you'll figure out a way to carry what you think is adequate.

Most of the time it is a p32 and a Chief Special. Sometimes I carry a larger semi-auto such as my P99. In the woods I like my Mod 27 Smith. It is akin to picking out something to wear suitable to the occasion. Fortunately I have a nice selction and accessorize accordingly.:D

I'm pretty much sticking with the Kahr MK9 Elite, Taurus M85UL, and the M605. I'm kinda tired of carrying big!! ;)

I voted the G30 as being 'midsize 9 or larger caliber' 'cause I really don't consider it to be compact.

Its thick like a brick.

When carrying concealed, I usually carry a Colt Officer's .45, Glock 23 or 357 Sig XD. I have carried a full sized 1911 and 92FS.

In the woods, I carry a Freedoms Arms .454 or Colt Anaconda .44 Mag.

These poll results are interesting.

I had expected that my favorite (the .38 Special Lightweight Snub) would have shown a greater following.

Also of note..... the number of people who carry the pocket .32's and .380's..... I didn't realize that these were so commonly carried.

I think that the popularity of the semi-automatic pistols over the revolvers for carry is remarkable.
