Bersa 83 .380 engages the decocker when fired, HELP

I bought a Bersa 83 in .380 Auto. I really like the gun. When I got a chance to fire the gun this week I found that most of the time, when fired, the safety lever would drop and engage the decocker, leaving me with a gun that can't be fired because the trigger is disengaged when the decocker is on. (Since I want to use this as a CCW gun, this is a BIG problem.) My fingers are nowhere near the safety lever so it must be a mechanical problem. I really like this gun and want to get it working properly. Any ideas as to what could be wrong and what to do to correct it?
