Interesting show on PBS, sort of "historical reality" TV, and the only kind of reality TV I'll watch.

This one is a family going back and living as an Ewardian upper class family, with a house full of servants.

The interesting part was, though, that the show had a rather lengthy scene of the Master of the House stopping off for a shotgun at Holland and Holland!

In the shows airing tonight they're going pheasant hunting.

Also, they threw a dinner party, and part of the conversation that could be overheard at the table was about fox hunting.

You can well bet that the show will do its best to stike the sharp contrast between servant and master, drudgery and lassitude. By association, hunting will be made into the frivolous pastime of the evil rich.

Guns, because they are needed only for hunting, are then shown to be unnecessary. Particularly so when a fine H&H could support several families on the dole for a year.

I don't know if anybody else caught it, but at the dinner, in the second episode, one of the noble guests was defending foxhunting. I'm not sure exactly who it was, but it was a woman's voice.

It seems like a very interesting program...and made me dig up my tapes of 1883 House.

Mac,

Well, yeah, that was the third to last sentence in my original message. :)

What's wrong with a little fox hunting or a H&H?

I caught the episode last night, first I'd seen of the show, and the message was very clear. "This is an uncivilised blood sport."

Spare me the liberal PBS.
