Like that? If you mean just that style stock, then yes, it's been done a lot.

That replacement stock is nowhere near as svelte as the original Draganov stock. It is however a distinct improvement.

It's not quite as beautiful as the original dragunov, but it still rocks.
I'm considering a Saiga .308 as my next rifle, I'll probably go the same route with it as he did, maybe with a few 20 round mags as well (when they're available that is). I've been having trouble finding that particular stock pictured on that site, does anybody know where I can get one? I've seen tons of ACE folders, but that's about it. I don't want a folding stock on it, that would be uncouth as far as long range dmr's go.

Impala, I'm taking preorders on the 20 round mags now. 3 for $100.

Correia, I think you just made my day:) , I'd love to get my hands on 3 of those. I'm going to wait until I buy the rifle though, I don't want to put the cart before the horse.

In order to install that stock, you're going to need to move your trigger group forward (if it's anything like the Saiga .308 I used to have). That's one reason why I don't own mine anymore. The cost to customize it was more than a new production AK built/offered as I wanted.

There is a Saiga stock that is of a Dragunov style that does not require relocation of the trigger. Not sure where I saw it though, but it is Russian. Yea, I know, I'm a lotta help. I search and post a link when I find it.

No need. I have some. It is a stock option direct from the Russians. Instead of the sporter it is Dragunov style.

Correia, could you please post a picture of the stock and the price and or a link to the webpage where youare selling it???

Does it require modification the the Saiga .308 receiver?

thanks

I'm not going to be in the store today because of teaching, but I can get a picture tomorrow. The receiver is the same, the trigger group is the same. Off the top of my head the price is only a little big higher.

so are you saying that the stock is only availible on a complete gun? or that the stock only costs like $60. If so I will call and order one!!!

Thanks

So far I've only gotten them on complete guns. I have no idea if they will be selling them seperately.

Ok thanks,

I called RAA this morning, and spoke to Larry, nice fellow, he told me that they have ordered the stocks from IZmash, they are AOK with the ATF because its a "sporter stock", just a different one. He thinks that they will have them out to the dealers in about 4 months. They will sell for around $100 retail.

Corriea
How much are the complete guns selling for?

when you get back in please post a picture.

Thanks

Correia, are there any 10 rounders for those of us here in the People's Republic???

Pat, if you do the conversion right, then the magazines fit perfectly. We use Bulgarian Poly waffles in our Tromix .223s, and they fit great.

Gripper, we're not doing any 10 round magazines. Just the 20 rounders. The molds to make a plastic mag are very expensive, and I would need to know that I was going to sell thousands to make it worth while. 8 rounder are readily available if you want some though.

MasterBlaster, Larry at RAAC is a great guy. I'll finally get into the store tonight, and I'll check. I think they are in the low-mid $300 range for the .308 with the thumbhole.

Thanks. I wonder if there is a floorplate/follower fix to turn the 8's into 10's.BTW,I think if more of the remaining folks in this state that were able to keep their licensing were aware of you and the product line;you would get a lot of orders.

the ones that i have were some 223 mags that wouldnt fit in any 223 ak that we tried. I filed on them a bit and they go into the saiga and feed fine and such, but they rattle around a bit and that bugs me.

I remember where I saw it... It was on www.sturmgewehr.com . It was in the parts and accessories forum. The guy was wanting ~$70 for it. Looks just like the synthetic SVD stock except where it attaches to the receiver. It has a built-in cheek rest that can be rotated out of the way if you use the irons. Hopefully it's not too late...

Edit to add... Here it is:

The grip part of the stock looks thick and short. Is it comfortable to use?

The grip may look thick, but if it's made in the same dimensions of SVD stock, it's very comfortable to use. The stock looks to be a close copy of SVD stock, the rear trunnion insert shows it's for AK use. I found a photo of it installed on Correia's site. Compared to my Tigr with SVD stock, it looks nice, but the Saiga 308 needs a longer barrel, maybe 24" would be nice. Is the stock tilted up slightly or just the photo angle?

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier in the long run to just track down one of the various flavors of "Dragunov" that were manufactured and imported in 7.62 NATO?

IIRC, there weren't many of the "clones" of any make that actually had the genuine Dragunov action anyway. Most were and are adaptations of the RPD action (Russian "Tiger" and a very few Chinese imports excepted), the same as the Saiga.

When you can still buy one of the Romanian outfits in 7.62R with all of the bells, whistles and accessories for under $1500 that'll do everything but chamber NATO ammo as well or better than your finished product is liable to, it just doesn't seem to be very practical, IMHO.
