You might contact Eagle Grips (http://www.eaglegrips.com/) . They do custom grips for a specific gun and they will make custom grips from the material you supply.

Just a thought. If you have the wood, and don't require checkering, there aren't many grips as easy to make as 1911 panels. Give it a go.

Scott Kolar makes great grips. His website doesn't show 1911 grips in the gallery, but I have seen numerous examples of grips he has made for 1911's. He will use your material. He hangs out on sixgunner.com

I bought a set of grips from Scott that are made of buffalo horn for my 1911. I think that he does things like you are asking. Definetely give him a call or email before you choose. Great person to deal with. GS

What material were you wanting to have them made of? And if I may ask... what kind of budget are you wanting to work with?

There are several stock makers that will make whatever you want out of almost whatever you want and fit them to the specific gun but they will want the gun. Many of these guys will be wanting approx $200.

it would be maple burl, but died a certain way.
They will go on a yet to be purchased 1911 and the finish of the gun and the grips will match a ye to be made sword (this is a future project by the way)
the wood is similar to this:

Ted Yost makes custom grips too.

Hakan! Airmail from Europe only takes 6 days or so, and each piece is custom made.

In short, Hakan is the man!

I third, forth, fifth and sixth the Hakan Pek motion. (Gavel slams to the bench!)
OK...Sold :D
You can have you grips back in 3 weeks...which Ill bet regardless of how domestic they are done...is a quicker turn around time for custom grips.
Ill bet hes reasonably priced to....since your giving him the wood to cut....
But hey....its your money.
Shoot well

His grips are functional works of art ... more than worth the cost and beyond comparison.

I've got a set of Haken's grips on order. He's a nice guy to deal with and his grips are beautiful.

Yet another Hakan suggestion. His CZ grips are top notch. Mine are so nice that my best friend ordered a pair in a different wood (two best friends can't have two guns that look exactly the same can they). If I get another 1911 that I want grips for or if I ever get sick of the grips currently on my Charles Daly 1911 I'll certainly order 1911 grips from Hakan now that he makes them.

You can't go wrong w/ Hakan. However, you'd have to ask him about using your wood blank (I don't see why he'd have a problem with that though).
