U.S. Grants Asylum to Iraqi Lawyer Who Helped POW (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&ncid=578&e=4&u=/nm/20030429/ts_nm/iraq_usa_lawyer_dc) Mohammed Odeh al Rehaief, his wife and their daughter were granted asylum by the U.S. government on Monday. So it appears he is here and will probably go for citizenship.

Hope he stops by to say hi. Already more of an American than some I know who were born here.

Any and all like him will be welcomed into my part of the world (those who are looking for a handout though can just keep on looking elsewhere).

This is one imigration that I am glad to hear about. The man and his family deserve this. Now I hope he can find meaningful employment and enjoy the American dream.

OK, let my prejudice slip. He can stay so long as he doesn't practice law here. :D

He can move into my neighborhood anytime. If he does, I'll buy him and his family dinner.

He may not be an American by birth, but he is certainly an American in spirit and charactor!

Indeed, the man had courage and moral fiber to do the right thing. I'm so glad for what he did and he's welcome by me.

I'd buy him and his family dinner as well.

Hope the guy is pro-2AM; maybe someone will sponsor membership in GOA or NRA........

BIG disappointment if he's not......:(

Yes, he did the right thing by providing info on the POW, thereby most likely saving her life.

And the thousands of Iraqi soldiers who refused to fight us did the right thing too, thereby saving thousands of American lives.

They all should be brought to America, right?

Maybe. However, I believe that if you think about the situation again you'll see that inaction on the part of those thousands is not precisely the same as the action taken by a man and his wife.

This couple could have done nothing and been right there in the larger group claiming "We didn't shoot at you!" - but they went beyond that and made an additional contribution at great personal risk.
