Damn Skunk...

You have great equippment and take very nice pics...
But eighter you clean your guns like there is no tomorrow, or you never use them.

So, what is it?
Or are you so supertictactical (R) that you have two of each? ;)

Well yes, the Strider is new, but the WAVE and the Emerson look as if they haven't taken out anything more hardcore than an ingrown toenail--no "character" at all!:D

The WAVE is pretty well used but lighting fixed it up.

SWEEEEEEEET pics. I love taking and looking at pics. I usually don't reply if I like them, but thought I would this time. The stripes add a nice touch, but I think it would make it more for show then use. Wouldn't it? I don't have a knife yet, but can't afford it. (like you I have no boyfriend to "sponge" off of.) 115lbs!!!!!!!! Dude that's less then me. Go eat something. ;-)

oh well. The point was to say nice pics. :D

Gus is the nickname my dad gave me. I am a daddys girl since I try to take his guns and go to the range with him. Plus he is my hero and means the world to me. He has taught me so much.

Gus,

You got it right on one. The stripes play the same role on the knife that they do on a car - they look cool.

My 5 year old daughter thinks knives are great also. Even at her age she has a pretty good eye for well made cutlery (she oughta since she's been going to the Blade show since she was -3 months old). She also has a nice little collection of customs started. I'm sure that she'll have her eye on a couple of guns soon and then we'll have another collection to seed. Between her various "uncles" and "aunties" she'll know how to use all of them (Unca John, Auntie Tamara, Unca Will, Auntie Toni, Unca Anthony, etc.)

Good luck on your SD search.

Skunk,

Have you posted about the techniques you used to take those images yet? I'd dearly love to learn how you did them. Pretty Please:D ! with 7.62X51 on top.

Ya know Skunk, you could just go with a fully equiped skunk as your personal defensive tool of choice. My mother had one as a girl and she swore that no one messed with her more than once as her stripped little friend was quite protective and would turn and fire with little warning.

Skunkabilly, what model M1A is that? Whichever it is I'm drooling. M1A is tied for first on my "Guns to Buy" list. Very, very nice guns. Except they are expensive...

Plus he is my hero and means the world to me. He has taught me so much.

Awesome. My dad is my hero, too. It's nice to know that the whole world hasn't gone crazy. My dad isn't a shooter (except deer), but I got him into tae kwon do. So life is good.

HSO, I thought most pet skunks had their glands removed to prevent them from making a stink about things, literally.

Last thought. I'm part of the single crowd too. It's not all bad. <half sarcastic>Besides, you have more money to spend on the important stuff...like guns and knives. :D:rolleyes: </half sarcastic>

Well when I get the chance (it's finals week so I have no time) I will go knife hunting. I think I'm gonna aim to get 2 right away, but still I have to pay the school bill first. (yeah just cause I'm single doesn't mean I have money.) Oh well. I think I'm gonna have to try carrying both to see which I like most, but I know when I'm at work I should carry a folding one since I don't know if we are even suppossed to have one. I don't even think my swiss army knife my dad gave me is allowed. Oh well

Gus

PS You single guys live in all the wrong states. There's tons of single girls here, but oh well. :neener:  :D

It's a Scout.

>> Awesome. My dad is my hero, too. It's nice to know that the whole world hasn't gone crazy.

Right now my dad likes talking about guns and shooting more than he likes doing it, but that's better than where he was 3 years ago.

Gus:

>> I don't even think my swiss army knife my dad gave me is allowed.

Gus, two of my main requirements for a knife is it locks and I can manipulate it with one paw. That leaves out SAK's. I carry a combat folder and a Leatherperson Wave. The Wave's tools need two hands to get to except the two blades, and they even lock.

Are they tactical?

But you can't hunt with a semiauto in PA. Unless they changed the law...

Phantom - Farm raised skunks are stripped of their WMD, but wild baby skunks raised by hand in East Tennesseeback in the 1930's weren't so limited in tactail (that's for you Skunk :D ) responses.

DG - What type of place do you work? You'd be suprised about the things people think they can and can't do with a knife and where and what you may carry are the most common misconceptions. Also, there should never come a time that you telegraph that you have a knife for protection on you. Just like a handgun the element of suprise should be to your advantage and not your attacker's. Never get in the practice of "showing off" you weapons except in the most secure places with the most trusted of friends. Get the little Hideaway, or equivalent, spend a few days with brownie, or come down here, learning how to make people go away with it and then carry it every day, all day.

As for a practical knife for canoeing - Are you talking about flat water canoe camping, whitewater C1, or lake paddling? All of these put different requirements onto the knife. If it's the annual canoe/camp trip pick an under 3 inch fixed blade with either a flat or oval handle cross section. Clip or drop point should work well for a variety of tasks around camp from whittling fir sticks to seperating trout from their skin and bones to gutting suprisingly large game. Stay away from anything with a subdued or black blade. You want a nice satin or high polished blade so that you can clean it well after you remove that parasite ridden critter from it's fur/nematode infested carp from it's skin. http://www.grohmannknives.com/pages/r1s.html
http://www.treemanknives.com/tek9.asp?pg=products&specific=joprlrg4 Wouldn't hurt to have a good small axe like the Grunfors small forrest either. http://treemanknives.com/tek9.asp?pg=products&specific=jomqqnj0

hey Gus,

You mentioned carrying a knife at work. If you just want to have a knife with you at work, maybe for some light use, go with a folder. But if you are going to be doing a lot of cutting, especially cardboard, I'd recommend a good utility knife, preferably a Stanley. I worked at McDonalds for almost four years and the $8 I shelled out to get a Stanley saved a lot of wear and tear on my Benchmade AFCK. Utility knives are also designed specifically for cutting up boxes (and other stuff, I know) and are more comfortable, IMO, for that. Plus, you can put in a new razor blade whenever you want.

This post is a little incoherent and filled w/ bad grammer, but I'm exhausted. So that's my excuse. My point is, if you are going to be cutting a lot of stuff at work a quality utility knife would probably be worth the money.
