I have a Surefire 6P, a couple G2s, and a bunch of Cabelas XPG 6V. Same light output (65 lumens) for different prices. The Cabelas XPG lights are nice for the price, but Surefire seems to be a little better quality. If you don't mind the "nitrolon" plastic body, the G2 is a nice light for $35. I think the weight difference compared to aluminum bodied lights is neglible. They seem pretty rugged.

Ive got a Surefire 6P, in black. I love it. This thing's been through hell and back, and it still keeps on shining. The glass cracked from me basically throwing it down as hard as possible *came flying out of my hand while trying to pull it out of my pocket* but the glass is still there. I've literally smashed a TV screen in with the bezel, and it just dented the housing and spiderwebbed the glass a bit more. I've dropped this countless times, gets harsh treatment, and still shines like no other.

I've got a few personal lights:
Surefire G2Z CombatLight (belt holster) - Free (normally - $79.00)
Surefire 6P (no clip or holster) - $59.00
Surefire E2E (pocket clip) - $95.00
Streamlight Scorpion (belt/pocket clip) - $39.95
The G2Z was free with an IDPA class I took. I don't use it much.
The 6P is too big and no clip available that I know of.
I regularly carry the E2E. I ware Dickies and carry it my left rear pocket with the button closed. Fits perfectly with a folder (Kershaw leek).
The Scorpion is probably the best deal for the money and is the same size as the 6P
Battery life is the same for all of these lights, about one hour continuous on 2 123A's. All are between 60-65 lumens.
I really prefer the E2E over all of them. It's small, light weight, functional and inconspicuous.
Also, if you get a light that requires the 123A's, buy them for Surefire.com. They have the best price I have been able to find.

My vote goes for the E2e with pocket clip carry (I have the Surefire holster, but consider it too bulky)
Depending on the range you could be better off with the Surefire E2L (LED) so, compare the two of them, side by side to see if it is okay for your use.
If you need a powerful light go for the Surefire C-3 with the HOLA lamp (P-91) for the 200 lumens. It can be carry clipped to your belt.
If for any reason you need more than 200 lumens, you are not going to find them in pocket carry, but the Surefire M-4 and M-6 at 350 and 500 lumens are the top of the lumen output that you can get over the counter.
If you need more lumens than that, take a look at my line of rechargeable lights, (free to run) by clicking on my signature.
