Other than the 22/45 and .22 conversion kits. Just wondering if there is anything else out there.

Browning's Buckmark line duplicates the grip angle and control layout.

Phoenix Arms Hp-22
Had an ex-Police Chief, after he examined it on the range one day, tell me "Hey. That's a real Single Action, just like in my 1911. Nice. I think I may go buy one just to have one. Thanks."

Does High-Standard figure in here?

Smith and Wesson 422 or 622, if you can find one. Around $200. Not made anymore but very good pistols.

What the heck? I have a 422, didn't figure it for a good 1911 trainer, though. Ok, my search is done. I guess all I had to do was look in the safe.

You will note, however, that the mag release is different (center of front of grip). The manual safety and the slide release are very similar.

Does High-Standard figure in here?
High Standard adopted the same grip angle and approximate shape for its 107 and later ML series .22 caliber pistols, but the controls are different.

Ruger 22/45 uses the same grip angle or you could just get a .22 conversion kit for your 1911.

.45Ruger, just wondering, did you read what I posted or are you being sarcastic?

Hot off the presses folks!
Kimber has started making .22 rimfire 1911s. They also make conversion kits which (they claim) will turn almost any 1911 into a .22 shooter.
If you have the money (I don't know the cost, but hey, it's a Kimber), I think the 1911 .22s by Kimber would be the absolute best bet here.
