I'm curious what the lightest .357 bullet available is? I've seen the traditional 158gr, 125gr, and even few 115gr, but is there anything lighter? I have a rather intriguing idea/project in mind, that would require a light .357 caliber projectile. This would be the cheap and easy way to do it.

Thanks,

Speer makes a 110 grain JHP and there is a 90 grain lead (Linotype) cast. Why would anyone want to go that light???:D

at one time I think Remington had a 95 grain bullet they used in a 38 special load. the bullet still might be available in bulk from Midway USA

Are you looking for jacketed or cast? The Cowboy shooters go as ligt as 90 or 95 grains in cast bullets. If you want jacketed, maybe you could use 9mm bullets. Somebody made an 88 grain version a while back for the 380. If that's not around, I believe they have 90 grain bullets.

I have some of those jacketed 95 grain .357 bullets.
I just ran across a box of them while looking for something else.
I think they came from Midway a few years ago.
Never loaded one yet.
One of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time.

I knew a guy once that loaded as I remember 000 buckshot in the 357. I don`t know what he used for powder or remember much except he used gas checks as a overpowder wad and cap for crimp purposes.
How much they weigh, I have no idea.

Just for laughs I loaded some 88gr Speer bullets intended for the 380 auto, into some 357 brass and fired them. They were real scramers but shot way low and I didn't want to change my sights to bring them up. But they were smokiing HOT!!! Only shot about 12 of them.........:o
