Colt Shooting Master or S&W Registered Magnum?

The S&W sells for twice the going rate of the Colt. Given similar production numbers, is the price difference a matter of fashion more than quality?

I've never shot a Shooting Master, but the early Colt .357's I have owned have been real sleepers. Are you talking about one of the ones on the New Service frames?
