... with a new spring? The mags are the same size, shouldn't it work to just swap out the springs, or just cut down the length of the spring to get a hi cap mag?

If you're talking about a magazine made during the evil reign of the Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) then the answer is no. These mags were carefully designed and made in such a way that attempts to modify them invariably destroy the magazine.

Depends on the mag. For example it will be impossible to convert CZ75 ten rounders as the mag body is cut short to only hold ten rounds and the bottom base plate is tall enough to fill the gap.

Others are dimpled and cut. If you are a good welder, should be able to weld the cut and then drill out the dimples that prevent more than ten rounds from going in. But basically this is far more trouble than its worth unless the gun is discontinued and no higher capacity magazines are available now.

DITTO I had 10 Witness 10mm fullsize mags that were cut and dimple limited.
I sat down with a light duty wire feed and welded up the cuts. Then as I polished up the welds with a Dremel I wacked out the dimples.

As a mechanic welding was easy, made easier buy how much it would cost to buy 10 new standard capacity mags

you can take 10rnd 40sw magazines for numerous guns and use them in theyre 9mm equivalents and get more rounds into them. if a metal mag close the feedlips slightly.

works for Steyr M9,XD9

generally a 10rnd 40sw mag can be a 12-14 rnd 9mm magazine.

I have done this with Ruger mags, but to make it work properly, I bought 9mm followers to replace the ones in the 40S&W mags, because at least with Ruger, they are different.
