Autos that don't eject.

Some years back I made a few trips to the local trap/skeet range to play with my riot gun. My memory is a little vague, but one guy had an auto trap gun that didn't eject the hull. The empty was left sticking out the ejection port, and he just plucked it out and dropped it in his bag. Neat.

Is this a modification that can be made to existing actions, or is it only found on guns built from the ground up specifically for trap? Is it as simple as a modified ejector?

He was probably using a shell catcher by T&S Industries. It's a piece of molded plastic that clips onto the side of the receiver.

There's various shell catchers, and a temporary one can be made from a strong rubber band.

Most of the catchers can be removed in a twinkling and the shotgun reverts to normal ejection.

That could be it. I don't recall any apparatus on the receiver, but there may have been. It's been awhile.

Thanks.
