Does anyone have any info, or opinion on these sights. I have been looking for a dot and bar type of sight..and this looks pretty promising.

Sir Aardvark June 21, 2006, 12:39 AM I have installed the XS 24/7 Big Dot sights on both of my carry pistols - a SIG 229 and a Glock 30. I have found that it is much quicker and easier to align the sights to the target with the XS sights, and... they are night sights too!. You must remember though, that these are more "combat" sights and NOT "target" sights, thus making them more appropriate for CCW or carry purposes. panzermk2 June 21, 2006, 12:46 AM Have 24/7's modern version of express rifle sights on one gun. I like them allot since I am over 40 and my eyes have turned to crap. Although there is another post concerning other sights that work and are totally unlike any thing we usually see that I would like to try out www.suresight.com. HighVelocity June 21, 2006, 12:47 AM I have the XS big dot sights on several pistols and they're the cats pajamas. :D They're not for everyone though. If you've got the standard sight picture etched into your brain then the lollipop sight picture you get with the XS setup might be difficult to get used to. If you shoot Sigs then the XS sights are a no brainer as the stock Sig sights are quite similar. I replaced the tiny sights on my SA GI with the non tritium big dots. It shoots pretty good out to 35 yards or so. http://webpages.charter.net/silverspurs21/range/SAGIxsbigdot-web.jpg spin180 June 21, 2006, 03:17 AM I've got a set of tritium standard dot XS Sights on my GLOCK 19. Really, really happy with them. As others have said, they are very fast and easy to use. They're also quite easy to install yourself, if you're so inclined. http://sfp180.smugmug.com/photos/76825037-M.jpg http://sfp180.smugmug.com/photos/76825041-M.jpg http://sfp180.smugmug.com/photos/75896092-S.jpg ;) Frandy June 21, 2006, 08:53 AM One more happy customer. I have the tritium Big dot XS Sights on my 228. To repeat, not a target sight. but definitely an advantage for a carry gun, day or night. dairycreek June 21, 2006, 01:18 PM Just an editorial comment on the XS "Big Dot" sight system. As others have said, it is not for fine target work. But, if you really practice with the sight, you can achieve amazing accuracy with the system out to distances you might otherwise not think possible. FWIW! fastbolt June 21, 2006, 01:21 PM I've tried quite a number of different handgun sighting systems over the years, including the XS system, under the Ashley name. I have a Big Dot set on my CS45. The advantages/disadvantages are pretty consistently expressed in various threads under this topic, and the current website offers some decent insight into their intended usage, well. Personally, in retrospect I wish I'd tried the standard front sight post first, instead of the larger Big Dot. Easy to see, granted. Increasingly covers a lot of the target at distance, though, and the intended sight picture is different enough in some aiming situations that it might not be something many folks find preferable. It would really be beneficial to see if you can find a pistol with them installed and see for yourself. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Big Dot was visible from a low orbit, though. It does stick out in your visual field.;) I've found that I can't as easily hit standard pepper poppers, or even standard silhouettes, out at 50+ yards (for range practice) as quickly and as easily with the Big Dot sights as I can when using a couple of other sighting systems ... but then they aren't made for that, now, are they? XLMiguel June 22, 2006, 10:16 AM I had them on a Kimber Ultra Carry. As noted, very fast to acquire and certainly accurate enough with a little practice. I'm sorry I sold that little blaster. I highly recommend the XS sights for carry guns. saltydog452 June 22, 2006, 06:47 PM What fastbolt said..and You can order a taller rear sight. Use a ' six o'clock' hold at distances maybe beyond 25 yards or so. Up close, it most likely matter much. Its what I did on my Officers Model. salty. FIREARMZ June 22, 2006, 07:40 PM The XS System works, I have them on a SIG P226 and a G19 and can consistently hit bowling pins out to 100 meters with either. How ever as said earlier inthis post if you have that conventional sight picture just etched in your brain it will take a little bit of getting used to. The most commone error I see is vertical stringing with them. You have to learn to look thru the sights at the target vs. a traditional front sight picture. Once you get the hang of it they work very well. As with all things diffrent you will encounter those that do not like changes and will have bad things to say about them, I say try them and see. Chris Rhines June 22, 2006, 08:05 PM Tried them, don't care for them. Out to thirty feet or so, they're really no faster than looking through a set of conventional notch-and-post sights. Beyond thirty feet I tended to have accuracy problems. They are good in low light. - Chris ShackleMeNot June 22, 2006, 08:24 PM I believe they are the best defense sight currently made. I have them installed on all my fighting guns. Watch the video: http://www.xssights.com/assets/XS_Sights_Demo_LoRes-1.wmv geekWithA.45 June 23, 2006, 09:00 AM I had them on my carry gun for a long time, enjoying the "time on target" advantage they supplied, but found that they were extremely problematic for accurate shooting past 15 yards. I ended us swapping them out for traditional night sights. IMO, a little extra practice compensates for the slight amount of lost speed.
