Poll. How many guns do you own?

I know this is a personal subject so I made this a poll. Many people don't want the number of guns they own public or maybe some people are embarassed about how few they own so a poll lets you vote honestly without having to let anyone know.

I am just curious what is a "normal" number of guns for someone to have. I don't know if I have a lot or less than average. I would assume that most people here are more into guns than the "average" gun owner and probably have more than average.

For me, its not about amassing a large number of guns, its about getting the guns I want. It just seems that the more into guns you are, the more guns you want and as a result, you keep accumulating more and more guns. I am into handguns, assult rifles and C&R guns of any type. I am not big on shotguns or hunting rifles.

Dunno. Really dunno. But I assure you, I cannot equip an infantry battalion. Darn.

We should all be like that.

More than I can hold in both hands at one time, but less than I want.
I know, I know, I'm being evasive. But unless I go count them, I don't know how many I have.
Next time I buy one, I count 'em all. :D

I had to stop and think about it. 12 for me.

6 handguns, 5 rifles, 1 shotgun.

Not bad given the first one was purchased 9 months ago tommorow.

I just had to buy another safe strictly for long guns; wife said that having them in cases under the guest bed was not going to work.

60 at last count... but I was in the business for a long time and it was alot easier and cheaper then.

A dozen or so S&W revolvers, another dozen or so .22 target rifles...

Only 3, unless you count my pellet rifle!! :D  :uhoh:

1. .22lr rifle my Dad gave me. It was his first gun and my first gun.

2. 9mm handgun

3. .22lr handgun

I've had serious GAS lately for a 10/22 and a, dare I say, a Hi Point 9mm carbine. Also keeping an eye out for a good CCW.

While you are it, the IRS would also like to know if anyone here is cheating on their taxes?

Well, I am embarrased by how few I own. I used to have three but sold one because I couldn't get used to it. It was a S&W 442. I do have two Beretta pistols but being out of work for about three years makes it tough to find the money for another gun -- also this permit which really limits me from getting the gun I want. Hopefully, when I find work, I'll be in the market for another pistol. Provided Christ Almighty thinks I've been dumped on long enough and gives me a break.:banghead:

5 at the present, but that will change here in the next few months. I have 4 handguns (2 wheelguns and 2 semi-autos) and 1 shotgun. I am going to acquire 2 more shotguns (semi-auto and an over/under), another handgun or 2, and a hunting rifle (I want a .30-06 really badly).

And that's still not enough for me.

I'm still short a few. I go for quality over quantity, although seeing my Glocks, I'm sure some would argue.:scrutiny:

Without knowing it, I seemed to have aquired a shotgun and revolver heavy collection. Time to hit the gunshows for some of those evil assult rifles and pistols that take those evil high capacity magazines (or standard capacity, as I like to call them).

The guy who taught my CCW class was an ex Marine and he taught me alot of new things. I thought I knew how to shoot before, when I lived in the PRK. Since a CCW was pretty much out of the question in the PRK, as it is in Cuba, I took the course when I moved to Kentucky. I learned stuff I never dreamed of and it has changed my whole approach to pistol shooting. My instrutor said, be wary of the person who owns only ONE gun because he probably knows how to shoot it real good.

I have a bunch of the things. It's an addiction. Every time I get one, I say this is the last. Yeah right. There's always something else I want. The next time I fall into a gold mine, I think I need a P7M8. I have to say, my guns have performed better than my 401(k) plan as an investment vehicle.

Its interesting to see what is an "average" number of guns to own. I had no idea really, I thought more people would have 1,2, or 3 guns, it looks like most people have between 5-20.

I messed up in the poll because if someone owns say 10 guns, he could vote 5-10 or 10-15. It should have been 5-9 or 10-14 or somthing. Whatever.

MeekandMild
May 1, 2003, 07:26 PM
A Zen answer would be to ask another question.

Does one truly own a gun or merely borrow it from one's grandchildren?

Own or share the universe with?

Can there be more than one gun?

Does not the gun own the shooter?

QuarterBoreGunner

Good point. I guess it depends on what gun you are talking about, if you have a Jennings then I would say, you are only looking after it until it breaks and you throw it away.:D If it is a nice S&W revolver, I guess you own it until you die and pass it along. If it is a gun that was made before you were born, then you are just a caretaker of it because it belongs to history.

The PRK knows what-all I got. Handguns is registered for confiscation in dis-here state.

That said, I'm at about, uh... 56. Ish. Or so.

And can you believe it, not ONE SINGLE evil black rifle. Not one. Nothing to register as an assualt weapon.

Something must be wrong with me. All of my auto-loaders (Rifles, that is.) but one are strictly commercial.

Eh. The ergonomics of pistol-grip rifles drive me up the wall, eas-of-use notwithstanding. You keep 'em. I'll have a Winchester Hi-wall, please.
